Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

i watched the full match.

imho, the team was in deep sleep, evey1 juz cant connect at all.
sloppy play and unspirited.

i only realized Robbie Keane was the only hardworking wan who was awake, chasing for ball, make tackles.

i really dunno why Darren Bent was preferred than Defoe.
Why a player who don't chase for ball, wait for ball, dun make tackles can worth 16 million?
maybe he is the one who is breaking up Spurs.

I totally agree with u man. We are in deep shit at the moment. I think its time that Jol field a more creative midfield, maybe with Lennon on the right, with Zokora who has done relatively well off late and Kevin Prince Boateng as our centre option and Taarabt who could play on the left. Bale should be dropped back as a LB as I think Lee YP's form is not that great either. I just cant understand why Jol is more incline to opt for Jenas and Tainio as I think those two are the weak link of our MF. And I also could figure why Jol would spend a lot of money on Boateng but yet he hasnt played an EPL game for us? And aparently Jol is the only one who couldnt see Taarabt's capabilities. And Darren Bent....OMFG....is he playing for the under-7s????

As much as I would have liked Jol to stay on, he is really getting on my nerves. Not just him really, the whole team which includes Chris Hughton our Assistant Manager. Just get this...I think the only decent performers for us this season are Keano, Bale, Zokora and Chimbonda. Robbo has got confidence crisis, Dawson, Lee, Defoe, Berbatov, Malbranque and Hudds' form are like yoyos, sometimes up, most of the time down. And dont get me started with Jenas, Tainio and Bent....I think what Spurs really need now is a motivator. Someone who could fire up the players. I am not talking about changing managers, just maybe try to employ a DR PHILL from somewhere. That should be our next signing.

And Ive read from some websites, we are targeting these players in January : Riquelme, Quaresma, a decent left winger from Watford (cant remember his name - he is also targetted by Man Utd and Everton) and on the way out are Gardner, Cerny and Bent...Haha...sorry to excite u, but Bent's staying, sadly...

darren dent is a lazy player. he keeps on waiting for ball. i dun see him chasing and make tackles.
almost everything was done by Keane. i juz afraid Keane will be worn out and spurs have to be worry.

since Jol has bought players but i dun see them play much often.
dun tell me buying them to warm the bench.

overall, spurs displayed a half hearted performance. they gave away balls too cheaply.
even wif Keane enthusiasm, the rest of the team juz wun wake up.

wat will happen to Jol wif they lost again? vs blackburn?

Dude, As much as I would have liked Jol to quit, I still think its only wise if he leave at the end of the season. We must think of the team's morale as Jol is still quite popular with the fans and a sector of the Spurs staff and players. (with the exception of Berba, Bent and Defoe that is). We also should take account of his so called success in taking Spurs to a top 5 finish 2 seasons in a row. So I guess, it would only be fair if we give him time and see how things goes come may. If we fail to improve, let alone equal our feat last season, then we should wave his Royal Chin-ness goodbye.

For me, I would love to have a good defensive-oriented manager like the Italians - Capello, Lippi..heck maybe even Arigo Sacchi...Now those managers would definetly improve or defence and add up to our striking capabilities, we could be a force once again. And the names that were linked to us are not bad managers either, Juergen Klinsmann, Mark Hughes (Blackburn has only lost once this season!), Marco Van Basten, Ronald and Erwin Koeman. And I'd say I think its time to release Chris Hughton. He have been with us for so long already. I reckon we should offload him. He could be a manager for a champiionship team coz he is well qualified. He was a great player for us, a good coach and an important figure at WHL, but we need someone fresh.

Tottenham Hotspur should no problem against Getafe.
Agreed, they seem to be playing very well during UEFA Cup.
Ultimately, it is still the EPL's results that will decide Martin Jol's faith.

Tottenham board confirm Jol's sacking
http://www.spvpics.com/files/2uuar9n4ycqjvssk2yeq.jpg

LONDON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur have sacked their Dutch manager Martin Jol, the Premier League club said in a statement on Thursday.

'We can confirm that the board has this evening asked Martin Jol, the club manager, and Chris Hughton, the first team coach, to stand down from their positions with immediate effect,' the statement read.

Bizarrely Jol, who took over from Jaques Santini in 2004, was in the dugout for Tottenham's 2-1 UEFA Cup defeat by Spanish club Getafe on Thursday as rumours circulated that his three-year reign was at an end.

The 51-year-old has been tipped for the sack all season since highly fancied Tottenham lost their opening Premier League game against newly promoted Sunderland.

After consecutive fifth-placed finishes in his two full seasons in charge of the north London club, this season has been a huge letdown.

Tottenham are currently third from bottom with just one win from their opening 10 games.

'I can understand the position of the club in light of the results,' Jol said on the club's website.

'I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Tottenham Hotspur is a special club and I want to thank the terrific staff and players.

'For me the fans were always amazing with their support so I would also like to say thank you - I shall never forget them.'

The club did not say who would replace Jol, although Seville's Juande Ramos, who was approached in August, is expected to take over.

Former Tottenham striker and current development coach Clive Allen will be in charge of the first team on Sunday at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Hey Guys,

Actually recently even though i'm a loyal Spurs fan,i too have stopped watching Spurs play because they were not playing as a team especially with all the problems with JOL....Since he have totally lost support of the board & now players,he really had to go ! Can't be sentimental about it !

Well looking forward to both Ramos & Poyet coming on board as i would liked to know what they can do to our team now at the bottom 3...and btw after yesterday's loss, does it mean that we are out of the Uefa Cup or is there a away game that we can win & stay on ?

Tottenham is in group G with Anderlecht, Getafe, AaB & H.Tel-Aviv currently playing in group stage.

This phase comprises eight groups of five, with each side playing four games, two at home and two away. The winners, runners-up and third-placed teams from each section advance to the last 32 where they are joined by the eight third-placed clubs from the UEFA Champions League. Here, the traditional two-match knockout format resumes, until the final.

Jermain Defoe of Tottenham scores past Oscar Ustari of Getafe for Tottenham's first goal during the UEFA Cup Group G match at White Hart Lane on October 25, 2007 in London, England.

It was learned after the match that Tottenham manager Martin Jol had offered up his resignation before the game as the under-fire Dutchman chose to no longer deal with the high expectations at White Hart Lane.

farewell jol, thanks for 2 fantastic seasons!

i will try my best to get the new v neck spurs jersey by this weekend so i can show the world the badge i so dearly adore. come on all you lily whites, the way is still open, spurs is still the pride of london!
