stoke really defend well...

Like their lives depend on it.

Henderson missed the one on one, that's it. And then Suarez missed an open goal.

Also penalty denied but that's usual for us :(

Anyway, I'm proud of the loss if a loss is ever to be proud of. We fought on till the end and gave everything. Edge of my seat.

Carragher is gone. Good time to blood Coates in for the next game. In times like these, how I'd wish Raul was still around.

stoke defended with 5 man back line. no way in thro the center man.
they practically dive in for any shoot at the GK. i feel henderson is being deployed out of his natural position but well he shld have scored on the 1 on 1 chance with the gk.

i feel liverpool tried their best. but skrtel playing right back has handicapped our counter attacking on the right. we need glenn johnson back into fitness asap.

din watch the match, but according to some match stats & report: (Stokes-Liverpool)
corner: 2-12
on targer: 1-7
off target: 1-9
possesion: 27%-73% (!!! am i looking at barcelona match stats??!)

"Jose Enrique's through-ball sent Jordan Henderson racing clear through the middle but he side-footed his first shot straight at Asmir Begovic, the goalkeeper made a good save from the follow-up and Matthew Upson's chest blocked the third.

However, the danger was not over as the loose ball dropped to Adam's dangerous left foot but Shawcross blocked his first effort from the edge of the penalty area and Begovic got back to stop the rebound
"

seems we're dominating the match and had our chances but failed to take them, and again some dubious referee decisions din go our way...

looking at the positives for the season so far, we have played some good football..
in the 2 matches which we dropped points, we have dominated the game (1st half against sunderland) and should have won if we took our chances or got referee decision going our way.. and in all these games, we were without our talisman, stevie... looking forwards to his return :D

has anybody notice it has been a long long time since pepe last saved a penalty?
remember tat he was a specialist in saving penalty when he 1st joined us... i wasn't too worried when we conceded a penalty those days, cos always had hope in him saving it...:p

Pepe never looked like saving any penalty for a long time - I don't know why.

Kenny is really mad about the refs.

sigh ..... a diff team, but still get tat same away result against team like stoke.
4 games(7 points) played,but drop 5 points alrdy.
the top 2 r starting 2 pull away.
arsenal & spurs r back 2 winning ways.
it wouldn't be long b4 the top 6~7 positions get veri tight.
every single point drop now has an impact .....

next sunday's game away @ white hart lane is veri crucial.

Dalglish unhappy with referees
September 10, 2011

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish will consult the club's owners b4 deciding on how 2 deal with issues regarding refereeing decisions.

Dalglish was unhappy with a no. of incidents in their 1-0 defeat @ Stoke - their 1st Premier League defeat of the season.

"We would like 2 be respectful 2 referees - & I'd like 2 think I hv been - but more importantly than being respectful 2 the referees is having respect 4 my football club,'' he said.

"If I feel they r suffering in any shape or form I will need 2 go the same route other ppl go & see if we can gain some benefit fr tat. The 1st 4 league games hv had contentious decisions in them & every 1 has gone against us.

"I'll speak 2 the owners 1st & see wat they say becos the last thing I 1 2 do is 4 my behaviour 2 impinge on the club's success in any way.''

Unlike many top-flight counterparts, Dalglish stressed he had no issues with the way Stoke had played & praised their determination & resilience, but he felt his side should hv got more fr a match they dominated & said he did not think Jamie Carragher had fouled Walters 4 the spot-kick.

"I think it is abit of an understatement 2 say we deserved something fr the game,'' Dalglish added. "We can only do wat we can do ourselves - sometimes other things r taken outside your jurisdiction.

"If we continue 2 play with the same attitude & commitment then we will be okay tis season, but if we continually get battered by things outside of our control we r not going 2 get much chance.

"We don't hv any complaint abt Stoke - they played hard & played well, they got the goal & defended courageously @ times & maybe @ times they got a bit of luck.

"We don't hv anything but appreciation 4 the way they played & the way they held on 2 win the game. There is nothing 4 me 2 say which is anything other than complimentary 2 Tony & Stoke, but I just cannot see how it is a penalty kick.''

Stoke boss Tony Pulis, understandably, took a counter view 2 Dalglish.

"I think Kenny will be as biased [2 his team] as I am 2 Stoke,'' he said. "I respect his opinion & whether the decisions were (less than impartial) or not I don't know. We were pretty poor in possession of the ball 2day & we r better than tat but we were top drawer off the ball. We stopped them playing, although I thought Suarez up front was fantastic.''

I saw a Liverpool team poster recently. It's a group shot taken at the end of last season and the poster was distributed to people who attended the KL match recently. I noticed that Reina is actually quite fat now as compared to when he first joined us. He is like 30% wider than Brad Jones, who is standing beside him. I guess the additional bulk helps when he is rushing out to punch away high balls. Not so easy to knock him off.

I think the additional bulk may have created a greater inertia to movement. His reaction time will be slower as a result. Perhaps that's why he isn't saving as many penalties the past few seasons. I think if we sit down and consider, a lot of the skinny stick like goalies... will be ask to bulk up to cope with the EPL. Otherwise if a stick like goalie compete with Carroll for a high cross, the goalie will be very disadvantaged.

Interesting but it's also psychological and preparation. Reina is doing the typical guess and dive to one side; it'd be better if he gave himself a chance to dive after the ball. Then he may save a poor shot or one straight at him.

Anyway, the defeat wasn't down to him. He had nothing to do otherwise.

Henderson should have scored from that 1 to 1 instead his inexperienced showed when he chose to try and lay the ball through the goalie legs rather then attempt to chip over him....but passing wise they still need to improve cos most of their passes got intercepted..

Guess the narrow pitch of Brittania and stoke's naturally big sized players made the pitch even smaller. Giving home team obvious advantage when defending in numbers. Though we lost, but take heart and be optimistic, we still got Stevie G to be back.

Better to lose early now then late on. Pressure will not be that great, aim is still top 4 for this season. :p

yes bro, a sickening feeling when i see us losing while all the 5 other potentials for Top 6 won, with the 2 Manchesters winning convincingly.

no excuses that Stoke defended in bus loads, our whichever player had a bad miss, we dont have the luck or ref was one biased cockanadan!

Let's all face it, bottomline is, we were juz not good enuff to finish Stoke off. if we wanna be champions, we ought to beat the likes of the Sunderlands, the Stokes, the WBAs, the Boltons esp when we play away. Reebok is a reputed tough ground to play in but Manure tore them with ease and buried them by HT. Dont ask me why, if you look at the current Manure squad, some of the players look ordinary n dont cost a bomb but they were still able to perform n score at the right time. they seemed so motivated n hungry. i think it's all in the mentality.

next week we have a tough game agt Spurs. new boys parker n ade look good. hope we can pull our socks up n get a morale boosting WIN!!!

Midfield lack sting and ideas.....
SG needs to be back soon, take command of the midfield.
Attack look weak....Carroll is practically a passenger.
Back to the drawing block......:(
