Unfortunately, a significant number of Japanese, especially the owners of the establishments and those with links to the yakuza, do discriminate against gaijin involvement to a certain degree. At the same time, majority of Japanese are also nationalistic. Most frown upon their best from falling into the 'wrong hands'.

Not to sound prudish here. But a Japanese native laying hands on a Japanese lady, is different from a gaijin or non-Japanese doing the same thing. The stagnant economy might have accelerated some of these establishments to open up and be more enterprising, but truth is the underbelly will remain inaccessible unless you know someone inside or just happen to get lucky. Otherwise, speaking the language and being Asian helps a great deal.

I am Asian and non-Japanese, but can easily pass off as one as I do speak fluent Japanese due to my frequent travels and postings there in the past. I can say that although most people around the world will have the impression that Japanese men are jerks, they are still the preferred clientele. Back during the days when I was still grappling with the language, I have asked and researched on this many times, and people have told me that 99% of foreigners simply do not behave in the appropriate manner in Japan, as they just cannot understand or comprehend subtlety in body language and culture.

I can see this slowly being eradicated, but not within the next 10-15 years. Fortunately, for the people of this thread, the best is already open and accessible to us. Most of the other mistress clubs are not that well run compared to the ones already mentioned here. Having a head mistress as owner of the establishment makes a significant difference to the quality of the ladies there.

For Thailand, I have had limited exposure. But I have to agree that there are 2-3 really good ones that I have had in the past year. First thing that came to mind was Lorita who was here last Dec.
