Re: All Vietnam Related TCSS / Info / Gatherings / Help Thread
I realize that this topic has been discussed many-a-times, but how problematic is it really to monger in Vietnam when one do not speak the language at all?
The time I was in HCMC, I guess I got lucky in that I had the number of a canto-speaking girl to call - but I'd rather think that this would not be too common. In fact, I would think that most Chinese there would NOT turn to the world's oldest profession as a means to survive as IMHO, most Chinese communities in SE Asian countries are very conservative.
And as for the English speakers - I ran across more older people who speaks it (also lots of French I think) but not too many younger ones except in the hotels and I guess District 1.
Yes, I suppose one can get away with Google translate and body language to "get the job done," but I personally don't much enjoy just bonking away without at least a bit of mental connection; something hard to achieve being so language-challenged and too many images in my mind of ridiculous Zeroes to Heroes gesticulating and acting errrrr.... practically like monkeys (Ooops - apologies, but that IS what occurs in my mind).... whilst the gal is just bemused/tolerating his antics!
So the actual question I have is if there ARE enough technicians in Vietnam who speaks English/Chinese to satisfy mongers like I. And, are there clubs/venues in China town where I'd think there would be such providers who speaks Chinese....if these venues exists of course!
Many thanks beforehand, and my apologies if this is too facile a question to again discuss.
