I know what is beer om, but im guessing you mean KTV is like fortune 700, fortune 1127, catwalk etc and the others is bia om...what makes it a ktv, because it has the words kareoke attached to the building and the bia om have the words nha hang?

the difference between bia om and KTV is not bcos the later has wordings of KTV attached to the establishment or building.
not sure if how many is aware..in a bia om,having the singing facilities is not necessary..the system will only be set up if base on request..customers can be inside the room just purely for drinking n hugging the gals..the room charge for the room will be cheaper if without singing facilities.
back in 2005-2009 where i am still a frequent visitor of bia om..lots of bia om located at TQK and ADV does not even has sound systems and speaker in the room..when customers request for music and singing then the staffs will bring in the sound systems to set it up.
as for KTV,all rooms are equip with sound systems, and usually equip with KOD songs system.the room charge is the same whether u sing or not.KTV pricing is definitely higher then bia om as its considered mostly meant for entertaining guests or for the wealthier ppl to go..therefore,the gals are dressed in gowns and not same as those 2 piece outfit or tube usually worn by those working in bia om.
ST and LT prices may seems not worth while for some people..some would rather spend 750k for a fj..well,theres nothing wrong for both.there are many out there who prefer to get to know the gals better before deciding who they shld bring back to the hotel for the night..and bcos majority of them cant speak Vietnamese..they rather spend more to pick up a gal in KTV bcos majority of the gals can speak either English or Chinese.
as for the spread of gals regarding quantity and quality...i would say KTV has the upper hand bcos of their higher spendings.although i do agree there might be gems in some bia om as well, but the quantity is lower then in KTV.hence,it is sometimes difficult for a group of 6-8 ppl to find a gal back unless they are able to set their expectation at a 6+.
lets use Fortune 700 as an example...the place has 2 groups of mummy..each grp has min 40 gals, hence the place has an average of at least 80 gals and with at least 80% of this is available for ST/LT services.i seriously doubt a bia om has such quantity.now lets compare the price of 700 and bia om..i presume bia om is selling its Heinken at 35k-39k..and the room charge is 200k-300k per hour.and often, the gals will pester to open the snacks bcos its instructions pass down by the boss..presume many will simply give in to their request in order not to spoil the fun..and this snacks come not cheap.
1 ctn of beer is abt 850k..a grp of 4 probably consume 2 ctn bcos the gal generally will "force" u to drink..and if the beer is not going fast enough..sometimes they get the waiter to drink ocassionally.
2 ctn beer - 1.7 mills
2 hours room charge - 400k-600k
fruits - 300k
snacks - 300k-500k (varies,some people dun open)
total damage is abt 2.4 mills to 3.1 mills
as for 700...there is a seating fee of 110k per hour for the gal..beer is 55k per can and no room charge if bill is above 2 mills..there is no snack basket in the room, therefore no need to play "pushing" game with the gals.
2 ctn beer - 2.65 mills
seating fee 2 hours - 4x220k = 880k
fruits - 300k
total damage - 3.8 mills
the difference in damage for a grp of 4 is 700k - 1.4 mills..its basically difference of $10-$20 for per pax.
tippings in Fortune is generally higher..although there is no fixed tipping rules..but customers nowadays normally tips 500k for 2-3 hour duration.ST is 2 mills and LT is 3 mills.
end of the day..different people has different taste and chionging styles..theres no right or wrong..all up to one's preference.
hope everybody has a better understanding of bia om and KTV
do welcome if others has any different opinion and views
