Batam is a good place with many treasures well-hidden. Do feel free to drop by Batam if there's a chance. Its cheaper than going to Sentosa in Sillypore. Recently saw the morning news that going to Sentosa,buy package tour excluding 2 meals already cost S$232.00 and thats not counting ferry charge or cable car charge,hehehe....entrance to Sentosa is now FOC becos of the the SG50 celebration tho.

But "if" i tip girl 100k in 2005,i pay S$17.54,but when i tip the girl 100k in 2014,i only pay S$10.75,hehehe....150k tip is still only S$16.13,lesser than the 100k of S$17.54 in 2005.....then again when i tip girl 200k in 2014 double of what the tip "she" received in 2005 in rupiah which is S$21.50 (still higher than 2005's 100k in S$),the girl in 2014 still isnt as excited and happy as the girl receiving 100k in 2005...lol. That is the change i see today.

My above calculation are solely base on my personal point of view and analysis as a newbie who only start visiting Batam from Feb 2014.

For hotel rates,there is a slight increase too,about 10% to 25% for most hotels over the last 10 years. Recently 2015,i notice a slight drop in rates for "aging hotels". Most likely its becos more new hotels are completed and room occupancy competition becomes stiffen.
