Before u sign up make sure u ask the school whether they teaching North or South VN. If your target is South VN gals, then learning North dialect wun get u very far.
Also make sure, if they are frm the South, whether they teaching real SGN tv or kampung tv (eg the teacher from Mekong Delta). The kampung tv may sound cute when the gals use it, but it will make u sound "unsophisticated".
Interestingly, a lot of residents around Dong Nai (Gia Kiem, few hrs north of SGN) speak the Northern dialect as they were originally from the North and migrated during the war to escape persecution... as they are Catholics.
