Nowadays when police conduct checks on you they have body camera to record what transpired during the checking. The officer will inform you that they are recording the check. However this is a 2-way thingy and we also have the right to record the checking done by the police officers. It is legit as long as you inform them that you are recording the incident.
You should give it a try as it is very effective in curbing the overzealous policemen from going overboard. Even the garang and kuailan umpai will behave himself and become courteous to you when he knows the camera is recording.
