I think Tom's keyboard is a virtual one on his smart phone. So it's not so much about the keys being stuck as his fingertips slipping around.
My wank trick is to keep the laptop up at a high level so any drippage all goes to the floor. The risk for me is then slipping on the floor when I get up to walk away, and maybe knock the laptop over crashing to the floor. Solution: place some napkins on the floor. Remember before standing up to sop up all the goo, especially the little bits that flew out on their own away from the main pile. One more thing, never eat a sandwich during any of this. You don't want stray bits getting on your sandwich from your fingers after cleaning up, or else directly from the explosion. (or maybe you do, to each his own)
