Hope this sums up the basic things to watch out for if you are a first timer in HCM

1 ) Do not purchase a taxi coupon at the airport. Go out and que for VINASUN or MAI LINH taxis. The others will slaughter you.

2 ) If you travel light. Walk into hotels and ask the rates and view the rooms. Very competitive industry so they will oblige you. What you see on websites are sometimes different from actual. Get recommendations from.members here

3) Shopping in Ben Thanh....do not be afraid to slash the price by half. Walk away and you will be counter offered ! If you hate bargaining, walk along the outer ring where you see staff in light blue uniform. Fixed prices.

3) Never take a gal from a motorbike no matter how gorgeous they look. Motorbike pimps too. Gals get fake IDs and cannot be traced. A classmate did not listen and lost usd2000 after he fell asleep.

4) Do.not use your handphone while walking along the road. Ladies....Keep your handbags on the inner side of the road

5) Do.not.flash your money when paying..Like crocodiles, you cannot see them.but they are watching you. Be careful....the Vnd500,000 has been mistaken for Vnd20,000 due to the colour alrhough thr size is different.

6) Avoid moto taxis at night. Savings may be very costly.
