No, it's not so advanced or not a hard-to-find product. Loperamide is a very common and plain medication, and is very readily available, say like aspirin or paracetamol against fever. Any pharmacy has it, and as for aspirin no prescription is needed.
Its only effect is to slow down or block the contractions of the intestines, hence its effect against diarrhea. Therefore, one should go to doctor seeking specific treatment in case of infections, for example, because loperamide just works against the symptoms, but not against the causes.

Carbon tabs? may be useful, but just as eating yogurt. It's not a medication.
