Last time, I worked in Vientiane (laos) n Phnom Penh (cambodia) briefly so I can understand what u meant by boredom as the system can move so slow with everyone doing things slowly that you hv no choice but to slow down n wait too, esp if you need to deal with the govt

Actually, I was also stirred into the VN dream by a lot of internet articles from SWN, many of these guys who work in Canada n the US are finding life meaningless n taking the plunge to VN, here is one of the articles ;

obviously, there is a marketing element to it as these guys r blogging for a living once they step onto the “cheongster” lifestyle in Southeast Asia .. but then it got me thinking, if just 30% of what they say is true n if the white guys can do it, so we could probably do much better as we are Asians , will possibly be able to learn Viet more easily or at least can communicate in canto or mandarin with the viet Chinese

hv no choice but to consider retiring in VN, SG is too expensive n stressful to live in n too un-happening (unless one is super rich) ,
Malaysia is full of crime n is not much cheaper to live in .
Indonesia equally “luan” (chaotic),hv to pay bribes everywhere n chinese is discriminated .
Thailand possible but maybe too many SWM n thai visa rules hv became pretty tough plus they hv guns there
PRC – lots of the local guys with connection hv become very rich, local wages hv gone up, the exaggerated shortage of females (called mms –妹妹) hv rocketed the status of mms so now they are super $ oriented , the pretty ones will cost a bomb to go after (rich guys can give them bank card with 150-200k rmb without blinking after knowing them for 1 week )
VN – hv some good impression there but am hoping there will be enough pretty Viet Chinese VB to spread around as there are only 950k viet Chinese in the country with a lot being married to taiwan n korea yearly
