Not weird, since the food are originated from Singapore, everybody want to try from their original country. Same like we have Din tai fung in Singapore, I would want to try their original branch in Taipei.
I remember couple of years back drag by a girl to eat chao ech in Lion city restaurant, Back then still very few chao ech stall in Saigon.
Now re-visiting Saigon surprise to see many places selling chao ech. Just opp. Sheraton hotel you see our famous geylang frog porridge.

Most if not all the frog porridge in Saigon are Singapore style.
