-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Saturday morning left the Lao capital of Vientiane for Bolikhamsai Province as part of his ongoing official visit to Laos, which aims to foster solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two neighbors.
-- Vietnam’s State President Tran Dai Quang led a delegation to the two-day 16th Francophonie Summit, which kicked off in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, on November 26 (Madagascar time).

-- A customs officer at Tinh Bien Border Gate Station in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang said on Saturday they had started legal proceedings against a 50-year-old Cambodian border guard major who had been caught smuggling 18 kilograms of gold from Cambodia on Friday.

-- Following the resounding success of an online sales program this Friday in replication of the Black Friday shopping weekend in the U.S., retailers in Ho Chi Minh City have geared up for the year-end shopping spree. A sharper rise in buying power has been recorded compared to the same period last year as the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday starts on January 26, several days earlier than usual.
