-- The visit to Laos of Vietnamese Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong, scheduled for November 24 to 26, has contributed to strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, the Vietnam News Agency quoted Sounthone Sayachak, head of the Lao Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, as saying.

-- Nearly 180,000 people and a large number of vehicles and machines have been ready for search and rescue missions as well as preventive measures to brace for tropical storm Tokage.
-- About 100 suspects have been arrested for being involved in a gambling ring in Ho Chi Minh City, a source from the Ministry of Public Security affirmed on Sunday evening.
-- Police in the northern province of Phu Tho stated on Sunday afternoon that a group of suspects had been apprehended for transporting 30 bricks of heroin.
-- Four people have been killed after a raft carrying eight passengers submerged in the Lap River, located in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, on Sunday morning.

-- A 39-year-old man in Hanoi has been captured for threatening and extorting money from a patient in Bach Mai Hospital as well as stabbing a police officer with a knife.
-- Doctors at the Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi have reattached the penis and testicles of a 26-year-old man from the northern province of Thai Nguyen. The patient suffered emotional disorders and had cut off his genitals by himself.

-- Over 200,000 Vietnamese have visited Japan in the first 10 months of this year, a 30 percent year-on-year increase, Akihiko Tamura, an official from the Japan Tourism Agency, said during a recent meeting with Vietnamese travel agencies in Japan.
-- All banks in Vietnam are required to return the money lost from their clients’ ATM accounts within five days if the loss was not caused by the card owners, according to a new circular issued by the State Bank of Vietnam.
Lifestyle
-- Nearly 4,000 residents in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City, participated in a charity walk on Sunday morning, raising over VND6.8 billion ($301,425) for charitable cause.
