First time I hear this. Every time I go to Batam, the first thing I do is to buy 2 new SIM cards (the ones I have have expired already), one for my old GSM phone, which I use only for SMS and calls, another with 15 GB data plan for my mobile wifi router (long discussion about this already), which becomes my personal wifi hotspot always with me anywhere I go.
Go to any phone retailer in Lucky Plaza or Nagoya Hill, for example.
