I understand your frustration, but lets just chill because everyone is overreacting
Namelo is a very experienced cheongster full of wisdom and advice, but like most vets there are newbie leaches (not you) who probably wore his patience down by just taking free advice and never giving back
I have to admit 1 year pre-planning sound very premature, but i commend your diligence!
If you are new to HCMC, best to orient yourself in District 1 (D1) as most of the touristy stuff is there, along with some girl actions, and more liklihood of finding English speakers. I suggests you stay near Bui Vien, as it is the main backpacking/bar/tourist street, full of night time beer bars, along with girly hostess bars and spas nearby in walking distance. You can get by using English here. If you take a 5-10 min taxi ride you can goto a pickup bar called Apocalypse, or goto Little Tokyo for massage with FS. The best nightclubs are also in D1, along with KTV options if you like that.
More seasoned people may choose to stay away from Bui Vien, or even D4 where there are more local KTV option and escorts, but i don't reccommend that for your first trip.
