The first time I been to Batam was in year 2011.
Back then the exchange rate was fluctuating at about 7000-7200 rupiah per dollar compare to now 10400 rupiah per dollar.
The cost of a deluxe room of formosa hotel during that time was S$65 per night as compare to now per night stay for classic member 460k = S$44...
(you get even get S$30 plus using 3rd party booking website or app)
That means to say that now compare to 7 years ago, not only sing dollar buying power is stronger but the reduce price of formosa hotel stay give me more value for money..
I was recommended by my friends about formosa hotel which was a nice place to stay in 2011. Therefore I called formosa hotel to enquire whether can bring outside girl to hotel room and a chinese lady receptionist told me definitely. She taught me that in Batam most of the hotel allowed to bring cewek back to the hotel room and there is nothing to be shy of. Therefore that is how I was motivated to bring my first booking cewek to formosa hotel overnight..
However, I came across one hotel in kota palembang require the guest (man and woman) to produce surat nikah before allowed to check in into the hotel..That was a rare exception and that was not in Batam..
