From Ferry terminal to Hotel, i usually ask the hotel to pick me up (most time its free). Harbour Bay Ferry terminal taxi cost 30k rupiah from official taxi stand (still, ALWAYS double check price before boarding any taxi/s), definitely more worth than walking out of ferry terminal to wait for Go-Car on a sunny/rainy day (unless its sunset time).
From hotel to anywhere else, just use Go-Car or Grab. From Mall back to hotel, if i am carrying lots of shopping bags or heavier stuffs, i would just let the taxi outside the mall earn. I cant be winning all the time when it comes to saving money,hehehe...in Batam, its more on
convenience versus pricing for a taxi ride. If i forgo convenient, things tends to be cheaper but if i want convenient, it would cost more. I devise my own "best of both world",hehehe...by picking the right hotel and the most suitable ferry terminal (for myself).
Let's not forget the language barrier between myself versus Go-Car and Grab,then
again there's also Silver cab and Blue bird taxi too.
There is in fact one thing i will NEVER do with taxi drivers, that is i will NEVER negotiate a full day taxi pricing at
any ferry terminal or outside shopping mall (especially so for Nagoya Hill Mall). Drivers there do not deserve good business,hehehe...they are worst of its kind in Batam.
("worst of its kind in Batam" mentioned above do not mean they are bad people,just worst over the same trade; and
worst is a strong word)

A lot ,as in REALLY a lot of Go Car or Grab drivers dont give this information to the customers voluntarily (not experience enough,i guess) becos they were at most time driving a different color car and/or on different car number plate stated on the web,hehehe... i think its a kind of like a culture.
Best is to get the full vehicle description thats coming to pick me up via a phone call.

True, i get shouted at countless times by taxi touts becos of this. Some even threatened me (its a 100% threatening tone,even when i dont understand what they said)...hehehe...today, i simply walk to the nearest hotel to ask my girl help me dial a Go-Car. I dont speak bahasa, hence i cannot dial a Grab or Go-Car.
