I will say Thong Lo will be your best option then. Probaly ur free shuttle services to your new work place next time will be at On Nut BTS which is 3 station away from Thong Lo. For cheaper grocery, plenty options... Carrefour, Lotus Tesco at Phram 4 and both also available at On Nut. For food wise, plenty of road-side food at both Sukhumvit 55, 38, Ekamai, Petchburi Rd. FYI, most Japanese expats are staying in Thong Lo area.
