I also experienced many years ago as a newbie together with other newbies in hcmc, we agreed to meet laojiao at ktv at 5pm but then these laojiao went there 1 to 2 hours earlier to enjoy first before the newbies arrive at 5pm but at the end, the total bill was split equally including whatever the laojiao have consumed 2 hours earlier. Not nice to take advantage of newbies like that.
Having been living & working in hcmc now for several years, learnt the language and exploring different local joints every weekends, made friends with some nice FLs & masseuses to understand them as a person & their work. I think I know a fair abit and can tell which laojiao is bullshieting. I think I'll get whack by most of the laojiao here for saying this but negative points is not going to rob me of my experience on the ground anyway.
