If only you knew me in real life lol! I'm not an idealist, not even a realist. I'm supremely cynical to the point where my colleagues keep telling me not to be!
Cynicism / realism is a state of mind. What you choose to say and do is a different matter. I have no delusions about profit-making impulses.
But to your point I agree - there will be mishaps and yes there will be people who take it less seriously than others. But yes I should have caveated that those intent on doing it well won't take it lightly. It's too sweeping a statement to say everyone will.
What I do emphasize is balance and objectivity, because cynicism can be equally unrealistic compared to optimism. It's important not to tar the entire scene with the actions of bad actors (if those occur). The same way dommes should not assume the worst of subs because of subs that spoil things.
Lastly, I know this wasn't your point but safety is the responsibility of both partners, not just the dommes. I don't walk into risky scenes unless I know exactly what I'm dealing with. If I asked for something risky that might leave marks, I make sure I know exactly what the hygiene and safety standards are like. I never give my full list of kinks in the first session until I've assessed the domme first. I insist on safety words even if the domme forgets or ask for better ones if I think they don't work.
