FYI:
I take regular taxi only on my arrival to HB. Easy and just 2SGD more expensive than Grab.
No irritation, no attacks. Sometimes the driver tries to claim he knows where to take me for girls. Who cares?
I am used to say I am a regular to Batam, I was 10 years at Formosa, I have a girlfriend in Batam. All that is more than enough to kill even the bravest driver.

I am used to take Grab cars onlu when it rains.
At all other times, I walk or I take ojek, which I pay 12k to 15k. Generous and appreciated by most.
No thrill, no helmet, but quick and cheap.
(Yes, I save a whopping 5k vs. Grab car, eheheh)
