It is so different when they recognise you as non-vietnamese for everything here. Like buying fresh crabs recently. My girl and her sister buys, several kg for under $50sgd. When I follow my girl buy, same weight and not fresh crab even from the same seller the next day, become $130 sgd. All because I look foreigner. I didn't even say a word. This holds true to everything else in the last few years of my visits there.

There is no foreigner tax in Vietnam....is just the vendor/seller trying to sell you higher price...
Willing buyer or seller...if you knew the price...just move on and asked around and even learned the prices before settling down to buy from one stall...
Speak tieng viet is important in Vietnam...even you are foreigner but they knew you speak tieng viet will dare not sell you high...becos you can listen and understand how much they sell to locals...and can question them why sell to you higher...
