Was in Fukuoka recently and stayed at the Hyatt. Nice rooms and the red light area 'Nakasu' is just opposite the hotel. Behind the hotel is Canal City which is a large shopping complex. Cross the road in front of the hotel and you are in Nakasu. You will have to run the gauntlet of OKTs and the collection of about 100 small joints, cross the next street and you would be in the night entertainment area of Fukuoka with a large collection of restaurants, KTVs and pubs.
Some of the small joints accept foreigners as stated by TS. Prices range from 15000 yen for 40 -50 minutes to about 30000yen for two hours. Cheaper in the daytime with different rates for 9-12noon and 12 to 5pm and then peak time is usually 5pm onwards till closing
I stopped by one of the outlets, name was in Japanese, and using sign language took the 20000yen for 70 min. option. Chose Miho and went up to her room.
