Documents needed
1. Car registration cert X1 copy (photocopy will do)
If photocopy, must be certified true copy. You can bring it to police office to endorse and sign or Commission of Oath to certify. If not, you can try your luck by duit kopi of RM10 or so.
2. Borderpass or passport
3. Car authorization letter X2 copies (if you are not the own of the car)
- if your car is company car, authorization letter has to be printed with company letter head.
Procedure of going in danok:
1. Visit any travel agency in Changlun and get your thai insurance for car. There are few option, weekly, monthly and yearly. Normal we go for weekly, which is RM16 for 8days. Document needed - car registration cert
The insurance cover only 3rd party, which do not cover your car. So drive carefully and foreigner is always in wrong regardless of the actual cause of accident, especially bikes that always zip out from nowhere.
2. At malaysia custom, just need to get your borderpass or passport chopped
3. When reach police guard house infront of dutyfree complex, present your borderpass/passport, car registration cert and authorization letter (if you are not the car owner) to the duty police officer. Then the police officer will check your documents and pass it back to you. Sometime they will take away 1 copy of your authorization letter. that's why i suggest you to bring 2 copies. But most of the time they will not check and let you go. :P
4. When reach thai border, park your car at car park behind thai custom and bring all your documents. First get your borderpass or passport chopped. Then go to the counter with lady officer, pass her car registration cert, authorization letter and border pass. Then she will key in your car info in computer system. Then she will print it out and pass it to you together with all your documents. After that you pass the print out to next counter and make 2 signature on the print out.
5. You can now leave the counter with your documents. Make sure you got back all your document accept the print out that you sign just now. Then you can get you car and drive through custom. Once you reach the car registration counter, the custom officer will check your car number plate with the print out just now. If everything is correct, he will pass you the print out. Then you keep the print out and you are done....
Procedure of going out of danok:
1. Get your passport or borderpass chopped.
2. drive your car infront of the car registration counter and pass you print out back to the custom officer, then he will ask you to make a signature on the print out and a log book. You are done.....
Make sure you remember to return the printout to the custom, otherwise your car registration plate will continue to be logged in their system and there is a fine daily upon the expiry period. Your car plate will then be blacklisted and got to clear the fine to gain entry again.
