The thing is even if you are not so poor, let them think that you are very poor. If they think you are rich, then they will generate a shopping list every now and then. IF they think you are rich, they will make sure you become poor also....
In fact, many of them are not so poor. Their ancestors left them with many pieces of land which has appreciated in value for the last few years. One example is my mother-in-law, she has actually around 12 pieces of land in the province, left to her by her father. Each piece of land had appreicated in value from around US$2000 to what is now, around US$12000 a piece. Just that she is not willing to sell, keep saying poor.
