Like what bro Singbiet mentioned, once you sign the dotted line, reality kicks in. And in their dictionary all foriegn son-in-law are rich.
It does not mean that the wife or gf is bad, but this is how their worlds works. And if you think a few years/months can easily change their mentality that was engraved into them for decades, then it will be a daunting task.
To give, you will have to eventually, the different is how often and how unreasonable only.
