i cannot help with other post but i can give u some recommendations.
If your harddisk cannot be detected, you can try to find a friend who has similar disk, then just swap the PCB on the disk over. It must be exact same model and revision model.
Next time, you should consider using RAID 0 for your precious data.
I recommend you to get 2pcs of Hitachi or Western Digital 500GB disk, run it in RAID 0.
Don't get Seagate as I have seen my friends send in for RMA within a year.
