Oh 30 April is a sort of Victory Day. 30 April 1975 North Vietnam (Viet Cong) saw a defeated of South Vietnam government ( actually under America). It marked the fall of Saigon. From there, North and South were united under 1 country, Social Republic of Vietnam. And it was also the end of the war with America.
However, many south ppl didnt like to be under communist rule. Many fled to overseas. So to many Vietnamese refugee, 30 April is the day of losing their own nation. So while many mainland Vietnamese celebrate the day, many other oversea Vietnamese would show their hatred, sorrow, not to the country but to the current government.
