Party leader congratulates General Giap

Nhan Dan - Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on May 5 visited General Vo Nguyen Giap, a outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh, the ‘eldest brother’ in the People’s Armed Forces, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army and Head of the Dien Bien Phu campaign and Secretary of Party Committee of the Dien Bien Phu Front.

The visit was paid on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory over the French colonialists.

On behalf of the Party, the State’s leaders and the Vietnamese people, Party leader Manh thanked General Giap for his great contributions to the Party and nation’s revolutionary cause and wished him good health and longevity so that he could continue to contribute to the Party and the country.

General Giap emphasised that the victory of the Vietnamese revolution and the anti-French resistance war and particularly the Dien Bien Phu campaign first showed the victory of patriotism and the great national unity’s strength under the talented and clear-sighted leadership of the Party and beloved Uncle Ho.

He expressed his aspiration and belief that leaders of the Party, the State and people nationwide continued to gain many more victories in the renewal cause.
