1. Where to take ferry to batam
2. What time to take the ferry
3. Where to change money
4. Robert girl better or KTV gals better service…
I think tis fellow get my email from post no. 3309 at page 221….so I think I’ll post the direction once and for all à on the idiot guide “How to go and makan Batam’s ang koo kuay…”
1) Go to Harbour Front formally World Trade Center, if you take the MRT, dropped at Harbour Front, Walk across the over-head bridge…once you cross the bridge turn left and you are inside harbour front building, turn right and follow the row of shop to the end of the building, that is the ferry departure hall. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor, once in the 3rd floor, look to your left you will see Wave master ferry ticket counter. Buy your ferry ticket at the counter….on the left hand side, you will see a rectangular digital clock….it show the ferry departure time for the ticket that you buy. If you want a different timing….tell the counter sale staff. The ticket cost S$48.00 for two ways…

The one on the right hand side is Penguin Ferry and the distination is Batam Centre, Sekupang and Waterfront City, I will not discuss this here in order not to confused thing…
Hand in your passport (at least more than 6 month validity) & $50.00, the counter staff will process it for you…and confirm with you the ferry departure timing….Once OK, the counter staff will return you S$2, your passport, white Indo immigration card, boarding pass and return ticket from HarboutBay.
Once you got everything in order, take a look at the boarding pass (the one that look like credit card) and see the Gate open and Gate closed timing and the vessel number, so for example if you take the second ferry at 0820hrs, the ferry is Wavemaster 3. Take the same escalator and proceed back to 2nd floor, hang around there and wait for the gate to open. The one with 2 cisco police officer standing at the gantry. Departure gate will open 30 mins prior ferry depart……
There are LCD monitor that show the distination, vessel name and time.
Once the gate open….proceed to Q up and hand in your passport & boarding pass to the cisco officer….they will check the boarding pass against your name in the passport.. if everything is in order, the officer will scan the card ….peep….and return you both the passport and boarding pass….(return ticket not need here) proceed to the baggage clearance and put your handphone in your bag…once you clear the bag section….
Q up at the immigration for the officer to register your departure in the ICA computer, or you can go the automatic clearance section if you got the newer passport….1st is to scan your passport and wait for the door to open and 2nd is to scan your right thump and again wait for the door to open.
After you clear immigration, proceed to downstairs…..and you will see a lot of plastic chair….choose the one on the right or hang around Gate 2. It is in front of the Duty Free shop, Gate will open 15 mins prior ferry sail….Once the gate open….use your boarding pass to scan on gate gantry…..peep….then proceed to board the ferry…..the porter there will take back the boarding pass…..then go inside the ferry to sleep…..journey take about 40 mins….if you take Wavemaster 3 it is slightly faster about 30 – 35 mins because I modified the propeller 1 step down….Wavemaster 7 ‘s engine is noisy, Wavemaster 5 air-con is the best…..
If you take the morning ferry, best is to sit at the Starboard side….if you sit at the Port side, be prepare for the strong sun light….(Starboard = Right and Port = Left in Maritime term)
Once the ferry reach Harbourbay…..this one you sure know cos even before the ferry berth, a lot of kia su uncle already waiting at the door ready to cheong, like very long never eat kuay like that….never mind, dont squeeze with them, let them win…the different is only a couple on mins….cos the indo immigration officer clear the Q very fast…..tis one is not because they very hard working…..they don’t like Sing ka poh orang come here eat kuay….see your kuay face like want to vomit blood…..so quickly let you pass lor…
When reach your turn, hand in your passport with the white card….remember to use your RIGHT hand, as it is impolite to use your left hand….Why…Right hand mean every thing also right….left hand mean your finger touch your own cow dung….even if you use left hand…..they understand that you are cina and will not scold you….KNN…the most they any how chop your passport …. I mean they stamp a few page and waste your passport pages….
Once you clear the immigration, proceed to baggage screening area to screen your bag. after that you can change $$$ at the money changer in front of the baggage screening machine or there is another one at the departure hall.
Then quickly think whether you want to purchase hotel voucher at the arrival hall, it is next to the money changer or take taxi to town and find your own hotel. This travel agency don’t sell voucher for 2 stars hotel except Qzon and Pelitia hotel. For 3 star hotel, they don’t sell Hotel Amir because Amir is the nearest hotel at Harbour Bay….That is why the full hotel name is “Harbourbay Hotel Amir” and you can actually see it from the ferry terminal….
Now come the headache part….once you step out of the arrival hall….a lot of taxi will pester you…abang ai taxi boh…..usually open mouth say 40,000rp can neg down to 30,000rp and anything below 30000rp they will not budge….if you got time walk to the main road…..sure got taxi come in….and honk at you….mean Ai taxi boh….ask the driver how much to town e.g. Hotel Goodway or Nagoya Hill or whatever is your destination.…and neg down to 20,000rp….if they refuse, just walk away…it is only 5-10 mins ride, 101 per cent sure take one…..for ojek (motor cycle it is 5000rp if your dare)
Once you in batam, it is up to you to book chicken at any chicken farm…..refer to my post on page 218 and post no 3263 on the location of the chicken farm . then if you sway sway met your relative there and they ask you….wah you come here and makan kuay…..then you say no leh…..I come here to makan chicken rice and then bring your relative to the coffee shop beside Hotel Utama….the chicken there taste good and only cost 20000rp some more got tambah chicken neck, chicken wings, chicken drum stick….chicken backside….cheap cheap…
