The quickest way to learn viet (read/write) is to of course... start learning without diacritics (letters with special sounds attached like the ệ in "tiếng Việt") and start with normal latin alphabet. Once you are familiar with the words then start learning the diff between saying "ban" which can mean friend, busy, table, or sell.

Yes that's the one, last time i used to bring my ex-ex-BX and her friends there after done working at Godfather, and all still wearing their KTV work clothes. Quite an attention grabber, 1 ugly guy sitting with 4 babes in mini-dresses showing half-ball.
