Vietnamese Teachers’ Day celebrated

VietNamNet Bridge - The State Council for Professor Title has decided to appoint 706 teachers as Professors and Associate Professors in 2009 on the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day which falls on November 20.

Out of 706 teachers nationwide, 65 teachers are recognised as Professors and 641 are recognised as Associate Professors. The medicine ranks first in the number of Professors and Associate Professors as it sees 16 teachers recognised as Professor and 131 recognised as Associate Professors. 47-year old Nguyen Kim Quang is the young teacher granted the title Professor.

Hoa Binh’s Department of Education and Training celebrated the 50th anniversary of education cause in mountainous areas. 50 years ago (1959) hundreds of teachers throughout the country volunteered to come to work in mountainous areas in response to the the Party’s policy. The occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day is a chance for Hoa Binh’s people to show their love to those committed teachers.

The People’s Committee of Yen Bai province on November 18 held a get-together to honour former teachers who volunteered to work in the province despite difficulties and hardships.

On the same day, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien – Hue province commended 47 teams and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in the school year 2008 – 2009. The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City also held a meeting to honour excellent teachers and students in 2008 -2009 period.

The Ministry of National Defence announced the Decision to recognise teachers serving in the army as Professor and Associate Professor in 2009.

Those teachers have made great contributions to the training and education cause and science research of the nation.
