The main thing about doing business in singapore is that the overheads cost a lot as compared to VN. From shop rental, staff salaries, renovation to ingredients, it cost very much more than VN. Although rental in VN now is relatively much higher as compared to some years back, the staff salaries and ingredients cost are still much cheaper as compared to Singapore. The next thing is that businessman in Singapore (inclusive of vietnamese here) are not satisfied with just low monthly returns of around 1k, they are all looking at at least a few K a month. But in VN, they will be quite happy if they can earn a few million VND a month, if can reach 10 million VND a month, its quite good liao.
Next thing is consumer's expectation. Its a norm that Foreign food will cost more everywhere in the world, for example, Thai food in UK cost a bomb too, same goes for Viet food in Singapore. But these few years , with more and more singaporeans travelling to VN frequently, singaporeans can do more comparison and see the worth.
Personally, i still find Viet food in VN better.
