I will have to be a bit crude on this. You want to buy land for your ger or buy under her name? You must be crazy. The situation here is quite simple, i can only think of 2 possible scenarios, Firstly, you are a super greenhorn in vietnam whom yr ger rules your mind thru yr dick or Secondly, you want to show off to your ger that you got the money to provide for her, even to the extend of buying land for her.
Let's look at the first scenario. Buying a piece of land for yr ger when you are not even married to her. This is what a super greenhorn will do for a ger that he thinks has provided her with damm good sex. Don't expect loyality from a viet ger that you have known for a short period of time or even a viet spouse that you have married for a short period of time. They are capable of anything to get money. As a foreigner, you cannot own land under your name, buying land under your ger's name is basically giving her and her family the money. One piece will lead to 2 pieces of land. After some time, she will dump you and you will get nothing back. Even if you report to their police, you still cannot get the land back as the land is under her name.
Second scenario. Showing off to her and her family. If want to show off to her that you have the financial means to support her, make sure the folllowing:
(1) After marrying her, make sure you can get her PR within 6 months and Citizenship within 2 years
(2) Make sure you have a nice posh condo for her to stay in
(3) Make sure you have a branded car worth over $200k to drive her around
(4) Make sure you have a few maids for her
(5) Make sure you can satisfy her family's every wants and needs, i.e. whole family no need to work, can drink coffee all day and do nothing and yet have your financial support
If you cannot achieve these, then forget it.
If you really want to invest in vietnam properties, look to buying apartments. There's a few good projects in District 2, An Phu, near the British International School. Check out Capital Land website.
