Not impossible but takes quite a bit of money if you're not a young laowai. The usual way it seems is to get a couple bottles of liquor then invite girls you're keen on to have a drink with you and your friends (I tend to think it's not that great a place to be going solo to pick up chicks)
But you're right. It's better to go and party than go with the expectation to get a girl home.
