Learning "official" form of thai language is not much use unless you have to do correspondence...... I find it is more useful to learn "market" form of thai language from the general population which is more commonly used and understood. The SAF spent so much money to send us for formal thai language courses which ended up useless. Our boys picked up more just by mixing with the locals when they were attached to LOS.
