================================================== =============
VietNamNet Bridge – An Airbus 321 of Vietnam Airlines had its sliding pontoon burst open when the plane just landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City on August 25, when a passenger naturally opened an emergency door to “get off the plane easily.”
A representative of Vietnam Airlines confirmed the case, which happened on VN1265 flight on the afternoon of August 25.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the Airbus flew from Vinh city to HCM City. It landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 6.20pm. When the plane just ran into the platform, passengers and the crew started because a sliding pontoon suddenly burst open from an open emergency door.
A male passenger named Luu Ngoc Vinh was defined as the one who opened the door. The crew drew up a report and handed over the case to the southern airport authorities.
Vinh explained that he opened one more door for passengers to get off the plane easily.
After the incident, the plane had to stay for nearly nine hours for technical repair.
This is not the first time passengers opening emergency doors on aircrafts in Vietnam. Such incidents caused heavy losses for airlines because they had to delay many flights. The expenditure for rolling a sliding pontoon is up to $10,000/time.
According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration, the maximal fine on opening emergency doors is VND20 million ($1,000).
