Workaround Technolgies

Dear Bro,

Have u ever been such a situation? U are on a oversea biz trip and ur wife/gf insists that u MUST be back in Hotel and be on Skype with Webcam and chat with her so that she can see that u have been behaving urself and not sleeping with someone else???

I wonder if the situation above (and any other situations as well) is a commonly faced problem that most of our brudders in this forum faced and how we can overcome such challenges in our cheonging lifestyle with the help of Workaround Technologies....

bro TS, since the MAIN topic is workaround technologies, i regret to say tat i hv none to contribute at tis moment...

on the other hand, some overseas biz trip r very tied up wif work while some also may hv entertainment rite?

by the time u bk in hotel, believe it's already quite late. u can skype wif her (provided she waits for u) while ur mm go shower. after awhile, tell her tat it's quite late & u need to work 2moro.

i know it's all BS but think abt it, y there's a need to hv overseas biz trip? it's all abt work rite? b it meeting, presentation & etc... still need to work, or at least get urself prepared rite?

anyway, the key here is timing. do the rite thing at the rite time & 'educate' her on the bz schedule of overseas biz trip... if u get wat i mean...

Strongly agreed... It's about how you plan your schedule and timing...
Since business trip, more or less you will be busy doing your work... and perhaps, have already had some 'entertainment' outside already...

For brudders who have managed to tame and set the right expectation with ur wife/gf and have ur own workaround solutions using operational procedures, that's is good for u. For the rest of us, whom have more unreasonable wife/gf and they are not acceptable to reasons such as:

1. I will be back to Hotel very late!
2. My hotel got no Internet connection.
3. ... any other lame excuse u give her will only make her more suspicious...

Let me humbly present a possible workaround solution.

I recently stumbled upon this FREE software called Traffic Shaper XP.

I downloaded it, installed on my PC, get online with Skype/YIM, share webcam, and then i control the bandwidth down to a level that the video is marginally slow to the stage where it would fail after a while. Then I tell her that Hotel internet is like that lor... many people using... very slow...

With that, i was in Bangkok for 5 nights, 1st night she checks.. bad video quality, second night also.. and then no more checking...

What i've tried before is usually after dinner with clients, will request to go back hotel for 15 mins (excuse is to reply some urgent emails) first..
then webcam wif OC for 10-15 mins and switching off lights n changing into sleep clothes at e same time, so its an indication to her tht i m gonna sleep..

So after 5 mins, say gd nite, switch off com, and change swee swee then chiong to KTV n meet clients..

If straight frm dinner to chiong without any possbility of going back hotel first (e.g. not in the area, out of way), i will start smsin OC during dinner that i m getting drunk... so if no report later, dun be worried (must use worried, not suspicious or u will feed her mind again..)

Hi TS, basically I don't face these problem during my years on oversea work attachment - long & short term. Currently in HK and the works revolve around with so many beauties - both from mainland & HK.

It's boils down on trust and one's individual discipline.

It needs a lot of commitment's on both parties in the love department.

Remembered that love itself does not bring in the butter & bread.

What you think if the OC / GF on bz or attachment oversea for long? Could the man trust that she will not developed intimated feelings to the man in her surrounding?

If need to toa chiak - once must know how to clean it up!!.

I had a working partner ( male ) - reporting to his OC everyday without fail. During working hour - after office & during PH. He was staying with me in the same apartment. Hardly I see him goes out alone for long. The most - he will be back in 45mins and stick on the computer chatting with OC. In the end - the result is - divorce.

Reason - the OC let him wear the green hat!!. So..........either you or she that stray. Both are working and that easily goes wrong. What a pity!

U guys must have been Experts in Project Management and Ladies Expectation Management.

For me, not so smart, so kenna caught a couple of times(by different gf), so no need to talk about Trust ... etc anymore, so i have to resort to workaround solutions.

Of course i continue to party actively because these workaround solutions is working well for me!

The OP must be thinking of live chroma key effects, the hollywood green/blue screen background effect on webcam. I think there are products out there doing that, just google for it.

SG gals are just too dominating. They want the best of everything, they want to win in everything and every way, and dun trust their hb / bf. At work, trying hard to boss people around, go home, still wanna boss people around too.

If me, I'll tell them, if still wanna be together, then gotta trust me. If no trust, then the r'ship is meaningless! No r'ship is gonna work well w/o trust. And the culture, esp outside SG, is need to entertain / build good r'ship / rapport with colleagues / clients / suppliers. That's basic and simple business logic, especially in Asia. Which country u go, and never go dinner with the locals? Besides Muslim countries, which country don't usually drink some alcohol over dinner?

I think this is precisely 1 of the main factors that more n more pple in SG are not getting married, more SG men are marrying regional gals, and more couples are not having children! The Gangmen can give more baby bonuses, but they are not addressing the problem at it's roots! All the Gangmen pple just study, graduate with all the paper certs, sit in air-con offices, behind the computers, and don't understand the problems and issues on the streets...
