I think the best approach is to know exactly what you want and agree clearly with the ML over text beforehand, with the assumption that their default is to cut corners. It’s not perfect but it helps set expectations and avoid surprises.

It's true that they can leave bad remarks about you, but your reviews here can also impact their business significantly. I’ve heard of one MR costing an ML an estimated 1000s of SGD in lost income. Still, aiming for a win-win outcome is always better.
