I disagree with you...think there is enough info in this thread...just that newbies need to go and verify them...

There is really no need to tip in spa or those bj/fj places...all their prices already inclusive...if any newbie want to tip then is really up to invidvidual...

Newbies may think 500k or 1 mil tips is not alot of money but to locals they can feed a whole family of 4 with that money for a week...

hahaha 500k can feed a whole family of 4 for a week? maybe in urban kampung area down mien tay can, but in hcmc impossible hahah. the cost of living went up also. I stayed there for few years already.

I am not surprised why you picked 500k and didn't read my reply clearly...what I written 500k or 1 mil...

Anyway is up to you to think how you live...since you really didn't dwell deep into how some of them lives in poverty in hcm...what you like to see is nice and good living environment....you enjoy good rich food with nice place...

thanks for your sharing. I am a newbie in HCM.
Because of the low cost, despite it has risen for the last 10 years, I find it affordable. Imagine 2.5k per pop. Spa is about 900k. I think i tip a bit too much although they put tips inclusive.

Porter : 20k to 50k
Grab : 10 to 10k
Clean Spa ML : 100k (500k if I roam)
BBBJ ML : 200k
FJ ML : Not try yet (2.5k in illegal name - edited by mod)

I was told the normal worker make about S$400 per mth so it is about 8kk per month

just for show - can confirm this hotel the girl just need to register.

The front desk got one or two nice looking one but I think they don't do funny stuff.

i would choose to agree with Bro Hurricane as i have been operating offices in Hanoi and HCMC for the past 10 years. the salaries that my engineers are getting and having interview fresh grads from Hanoi University. 500k to 1mil tips is indeed too much.

Just randomly asking any bros going HCMC around late July 20th onwards? Got time off around that timing and was thinking of going HCMC then China but have difficulty finding kaki to explore further till China. So just asking if anyone also in HCMC around last week of July.

I am not an organizer of anything. Just asking if any bros around maybe can hang out eat and explore places together. I have my own places to go and roughly know around there so no worry I will stick or stuck with you. I can also chip in or split cost evenly if you all wanna go places like KTV/DJ cafes etc as long as not scam or overpaying a lot way above market prices to haolian.


I always agree with Bro Hurricane to pay their local market prices. I do not overpay and inflate the prices further even if I can afford it. Even if I am earning way more than before, exchange rate now very good or expecting tip top services. I will encourage people to pay the local or slightly above local prices. Of course I cannot stop people from paying what they want. Just encourage only so as not to inflate prices and make things worse for everyone.

Over paying doesn't guarantee good services and good experiences. So just pay local rates or slightly above. Even if exchange rate now is so good I will not pay more, just follow market rates. Please don't make it so inflated that they will think all foreigners are cabbages and outright offer two kind of pricings one for foreigners and one for locals. Then if don't give more tips they will feel you are stingy and give you sub standard below par services and experiences. It is ok to give just a little more to show appreciation and not too much to raise their expectations on always receiving big tips.

Of course some bros who wanna Haolian one will disagree and up to individuals la. I'm not here to educate anyone. I just hope people spend wiser and not make things even more difficult for yourselves and everyone else in this inflated world.
