The warm milk thing is something i read from one of those forwarded emails a friend sent me. Was skeptical at first but thought there's no harm trying. Strange enough, it somehow makes me sleep like a baby.
Thanks for sharing, will try the two methods, as I always bath just before bed time, think need to change

The warm milk thing works because eating anything causes blood to be drawn towards your stomach, away from your brain.

Eating light and warm food will also make you feel comfortable and your tummy contented. Just the right criteria to make you sleep.

Bathing before bed always seem to take away the sleepiness and leaves me fresh at the wrong time. Hope u sleep like a baby too.

Another good thing is that even after i've brushed my teeth, i can still drink warm milk without feeling the need to brush again.

Can't take your pulse. So I am offering a general prescription.

According to TCM, being unable to sleep is a problem with the spleen. If you want to take the TCM route you should take a spleen tonic one hour to 1-1/2 hour before your desired bedtime.

Bai shu - 3 g
Fu Ling - 3 g
Suan Zhao Ren - 3g
Yuan Zhi - 2g
Da Zao - 3 g
Gan Chao - 2 g
Mu Xiang - 1 g
Huang Qi - 9g
Ren Shen - 3g
Long Yan Rong - 3g
Dang Gui - 3g
Shen Jiang -1.5g - (Ginger)
Hong Zao - 3g

All these are mostly for spleen with Huang Qi as your emperor, directing the herbs to the spleen channel with "Qi".

Put in 3 bowls of water. Boil with low heat in ceramic pot for 30-40 minutes. That should reduce it to the correct amount for drinking. This formula also reduces dreams.

This is a general prescription. For a specific prescription, please goto a TCM doctor.

If not, like what other brothers here suggested, you can try melatonin. It's also a great anti-oxidant.

Hope you can have a good sleep from henceforth.

Re: Cannot sleep at night.

Chinese herb ji gu cao $2,a packet of brown sugar from chinese medical shop and a small turnip! Wash herb 3 times, peel turnip and slice it thinly! Boil 2 litre of water and cook herb and turnip under low flame for 2 hour! When ready add some brown sugar to taste! Store in fridge when herb cool down because turnip turn bad fast!

Do not cook any herb in aluminum pot! This will cause chemical reaction causing a slow form of poisoning! This herb is useful for insomnia, acute viral hepatitis, stomach pain, breast tumor, tuberculosis of lymph glands, thirst, bad breath, bruises and pain from injuries. Clears heat and damp-heat of the liver, nourishes and invigorates liver blood. Developed specifically for acute and chronic hepatitis with jaundice. Also useful for dispelling liver heat due to stagnation, detox, heat in the bone, pimples, liver toxic, black spots etc.

It takes time but you will be amazed! Have a good sleep when your insomnia is cured! This herb is suitable for young and old.Herbs work best when taken on empty stomach or 2 hour to 3 hour after food for better absorbtion.Alternation medicine is useful for health as it is cheap and good compared to western medicine which is expensive and have lots of side effects.Take Ji gu cao often as it is a good herb to clean and protect your liver!

Re: Cannot sleep at night.

what ever you do, do not attempt to eat zopiclone, stilnox, valium, they are highly additive. they are commonly prescribe by doctors, but once you start, it;s so difficult to not depend on them. so dun accept even if doctors give them to you. comeing from me who had sleeping problems for years, and depended on them thanks to army doctors. who gave me half a year of stilnox. Its only recently i got off them totally, 10 years, that's how long.

Re: Cannot sleep at night.

Do not lie on the bed till one really feel tired or sleepy. Cos lying on the bed to play netbook, watch dvd, read books could set in the effects of accustoming to the bed and not able to sleep soundly at night
