Can simply discuss with the partner to be a companion, or whatever arrangement, but why the need to be legally bound by the marriage cert? If partner is insecure, then is about showing care and concern and be assuring, not about signing a contract.
And if anyone were to really read the women's Charter, it's a very draconian document with punitive exit clauses. Any rational person wouldn't sign the Singapore version. The happiest persons I know are either divorced or single. Some have life long companions without marriage certs. So, to answer TS.. delay as long as possible, and ideally ... dun get married. Focus on being assuring and loving. If really wanna get married, (maybe just to legitimise the child), ...get an understanding, .. after a few yrs.. to mutually file for divorce.

I am very happily married and loving every min. With my wife for over 13 years liao.. I guess it's all about expectation...
