yea i remember that! if you are lucky, you get 1 dollar note. haha

I remember my fave program is the World of Sport on every Sun afternoon 12pm. I would nag at my parents to rush back to watch that program. If I missed it, I will display a black face. The motive to watch World of Sport? To watch the highlight of the Malaysia Cup where Fandi Ahmad, K.Kanna, Craig Foster, Warren Spink, Sandro Radun, Michael Vana(the fugitive) D.+++ijan, Hasnim Haron, Nasarrudin Jalil, Zulkiflie Kartoyoho, Razali Saad, T.Pamanathan, Abdul Malek, Alistir Edward, Abbas Saad, Malek Awab, Sundram Moorthy(played for Kedah in 1990 Malaysia cup final. Really break my heart!) plays week in, week out. To me then, Singapore soccer is the world to mi. Heck, I dun even watch cartoons like Transformer. I always fall asleep while watching that. There are times during the holidays, SBC will broadcast those 1 or 2 hrs long of Transformer and I can never last it for half an hour.


My fave cartoon at that time. Mask and Bionic 6. I even have a few Mask toys like the helicopter that can transformed into a bike, Venom's plane that can transformed into a helicopter etc. Who can forget G.I Joe? To mi, another boring cartoon. I would rather stick to soccer. Yeah. Sat afternoon is the Serie A highlights. There are always a repeat of the SBC drama serial on weekday 3.00pm. In those day, TV braodcast only starts at 3.00pm and end at arnd 1am. U will be lucky to watch any program in the morning on weekday. The only times where they have program on weekday morning is the gulf war. I was so fascinated to watch TV in the morning that I stick to it the whole morning.


Parkway was the shopping paradise in my generation. Especially the Aracade centre. Then, the Yong Kee Yong Tou Fu was the best food there. Getting 2nd Chance clothings for new year is a priviledge. Funan was a dead centre on Sun. All the shop was close except for their food court where there a stall selling beef ball noodles. Very nice. We went there almost every week. My fave newspaper is Xin Ji Wu Zhou Bao where they had a huge poster at the back of the newspaper featuring the artist with the lyric on it. I always listen to 933 Long Hu Bang at 3.00pm on Sunday. That time, the DJ was Zi Kan and Hui Si or Bao Bao. Can't remember. That time no radio so using Aiwa(my most prized possession) walkman to listen to the broadcast.

Me a Movie freak, like watching them with neighbour friends, most friends then were around neighbourhood.
Grease, Saturday night Fever at Rex, Alien, Star Wars at Odean, James Bond's movie at Hoover, Cannon ball run, salem Slot at Capitol and later in the army days comes the RA movies, and Amy and Veronica Yip topped the list, wow their boobs, no horse run.

Roller skate also quite happening at one time, not forgetting bicycle decorated with suspension, coloured budguard, some with sound system somemore. Then Cars like Datsun Blue Bird, Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda Accord, also hot sia.

Ahh, also remember my first TV games, Atari, played on Black and White TV.
Boxy console with game cartridge plucked into it, Then was space invaders, and some simple games that rock the gaming market.

Amusement parks also quite happening then in the 80s, driving games, shooting games at 40 cent. My favourite hang out Peace Centre, Toa Payoh Centre, Pennisula Plaza etc...all my Ang Pow monies goes into those machine liao...hahaha
