Received a lot of PM and went out with some samsters in Hanoi. This posting is not direct at any person but just Naemlo's rules of engagement.

For PM,
1. Do not ask me for gers' contacts. I am not a pimp or OKT.

Misc,
1. Do not tell me eat anything. Tell me straight what you want to eat.
2. Do not tell me cheong anywhere. Tell me what you like, example soft music with gers or loud disco. I encountered a few times, commented this place is boring.
3. Do not call me last min. Inform me earlier cause I myself also have my own life.
4. Do not call me after 9. Life is simple in Hanoi, sleep early. Everything close early at about midnight. So if you call me at 9.30, by the time we meet is 10 plus. I dun want to go and close shop.

Bear in mind the following, so dun ask me what to do. You tell me what you want.

1. Local KTV starts in the afternoon and closes at about midnight, if you intend to pick pretty SYT, you have to go before the Vietnamese men knock off at about 4. If you thinking of going in the evening, then you can go ahead without me. The reason is simple, prettier gers are chosen and what left are leftover. I met some samsters who pick gers like choosing wife. In the end, moody, complains no ger. Also my Vietamese is almost nil so dun ask me to help get the ger out for bonk.

Tips is abt 200-400k VND
Bonk is 600k-1.2mil VND, ST or LT

2. Boss and Hanoi KTV starts at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. Gers are definitely prettier and more expensive. Most speaks English. This place will be expensive, a night will cost about 200USD for a cheap bottle of whiskey or Brandy and gers hours. I dun go this place unless it is for business. So if you want to go, either you can go yourself or you pay for my share. Of cos I will pay for my own ger tips and bonk.

Inform mummy that you want to bring girl out for ST or LT, she will pick those able to go for you.
Tips is abt 300-500k VND
Bonk is 60-100 USD, ST or LT

3. Japanese KTV starts at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. Gers are attractive and most speaks English. There is an entrance fee per person and bottle of whiskey or brandy is cheaper than Boss or Hanoi KTV. Gers earn money by tips and lady drinks.

4. Most Pubs start at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. There are few pubs with attractive waitress who will company you chat and drink only. Do not ask me to get them out for a night. You need a lot of time to get them out unless you are like my idol, Richard Gere.

5. Disco in Hanoi start at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. I seldom go cause the blast from the speakers are just too loud.

6. Hanoi GL open till very late and has lots of ugly gers so I dun go there. If you want to go, u can go alone. I'm tired of samsters choosing wife there.

7. Massage palour closes at about midnight. Most offer HJ, dun ask me about BJ or FJ.

Tips for HJ is abt 200-500k VND

8. BBBJ joint closes at about midnight. It is simple joint. Go in, a ger cleans your dick, HJ follows by BBBJ, HJ again till u cum. Tips the ger and pay the owner.

Tips is abt 100-200k VND

3 companies taxi you can take in Hanoi. The rest depends on luck, they just love to adjust their meter.

Extraordinary man pledges to prevent rain during Hanoi’s great anniversary

VietNamNet Bridge – A researcher named Tuan Anh has stated he can use super-energy to prevent rain and storms during the week of Hanoi’s 1,000th anniversary (October 1-7).

The man said that Hanoi does not need to pay $1 billion to shoot clouds to drive rain away. With 7.15 billion dong ($375,000), he has committed to keep the weather very nice during Hanoi’s anniversary. The weather should be cool, with no rain and ample sun for taking photos.

The researcher said his commitment is guaranteed by his years of experience working as a researcher examining his theories. He offered to take 7.15 billion dong after the anniversary closes.

He proposed to officially meet with relevant agencies to organize a scientific seminar to make public his method on preventing rains and storms. This method is mainly based on his own will and energy.

The man then decided to not take 7.15 billion dong. He said: “If the agencies trust me, I will prevent rains and storms for free.”

On August 10, Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung agreed with Hanoi Mayor Nguyen The Thao to not shoot clouds to prevent rain during Hanoi’s great anniversary (1-10 October), since this method is very costly, at around $1 billion.

Without the Old Quarter, foreign visitors would not stay in Hanoi more than one day because they have nothing to see. The Old Quarter makes Hanoi different from other cities,” remarked an Italian diplomat.


At a seminar on how to preserve Hanoi’s Old Quarter on September 10, Cesara Bieller from the Italian Embassy in Hanoi shared that he was very sad whenever he returned to Hanoi and saw old buildings had been ruined. If Hanoians don’t preserve these ancient houses, the city will have to build ancient-style houses in the next 20 years in the suburbs.

Dao Ngoc Nghiem, former director of Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture, observed that 15 countries were willing to help Hanoi’s Old Quarter, but it seemed that Hanoi authorities and the people had neglected these expressions of goodwill.

After many years, only four out of 200 old houses in Hanoi have been restored with State and foreign assistance, including houses at 38 Hang Dao, 51 Hang Bac, 87 Ma May and 28 Hang Buom. These houses have become attractive destinations.

Many houses in the Old Quarter are disappearing because of repairs by owners. Nguyen Thi Hanh, who lives at 116 Hang Gai street, noted that many well-educated residents have moved to other places or lease their homes for others to do business. The new residents don’t have an awareness of preserving old houses. Some even tore down the old houses to build modern hotels.

Hanoi Old Quarter management board has issued regulations on architecture in case residents want to repair their houses.

VietNamNet Bridge – Only after two weeks of searching, Vietsky Travel could find enough hotel rooms for its group of 100 tourists from HCM City who will arrive in Hanoi on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.


Dao Hong Thuong, Deputy Director of Vietsky Travel, revealed the group will stay in three 3-star hotels when they are in Hanoi and that room rates have increased by 10-15 percent over ordinary days.

“Travel firms are now hurrying to deposit money to book rooms. Most of the hotels in the inner city have been fully booked for the days of the great festival. We dare not accept more clients, because we are afraid we cannot book hotel rooms,” Thuong said.

Vu Huu Hieu, the director of three Old Quarter hotels, including Rising Dragon Hotel on Hang Be Street, confirmed that the company’s rooms are booked for the entire period of the celebration. He is already working to accommodate guests who cannot find a vacancy for their October dates.

According to travel firms, the 1000th Thang Long-Hanoi anniversary is attracting a lot of foreign and domestic travelers, which is causing a room shortage. Viet Tourism is trying to seek rooms for its 300 tourists. Director Tran Long noted that a group of 600 tourists from HCM City plans to fly to Hanoi on the evening of October 1. However, the firm has just found accommodations for 300 of them, but not the other half.

Since late 2009, the travel firm began preparing for tourists on the occasion of the1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. It booked air tickets and hotel rooms for 3000 travelers and brought 70 tour guides from the south to Hanoi. Long estimated that nearly 3000 clients have booked tours during the celebration, and they expect another 1000.

“We have even tried to contact hotels on the edge of town like ones on Tran Duy Hung Road and in Ha Dong district. However, all hotels have been fully booked on these days, especially October 1,” Long remarked.

What also worries most travel firms now is that some vehicles will be not allowed to enter central areas like the Old Quarter on these dates. Long commented that most of the hotels his firm has booked are located in Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts, which is where big vehicles will be prohibited. If travel firms know which roads will be closed, they can arrange small buses to carry tourists to hotels and set up suitable excursion schedules. However, relevant authorities have not yet released this information.

“We cannot let foreign tourists to walk many kilometers on Hanoi’s cramped streets. We should prioritize tourists by allowing buses to go in and out of the central areas,” Dao Hong Thuong from Vietsky Travel noted upon hearing that all 24+ seat vehicles will be prohibited from October 7-10.

Representatives of some travel firms will warn tourists about potential problems, but they also agree that this will be a golden opportunity to enjoy the landscapes of the capital city in autumn.

There are now 880 hotels and guesthouses in Hanoi that can provide 17,000 rooms, including nine 5-star hotels, six 4-star and 25 3-star hotels. According to VnExpress, the number of rooms will be just enough to meet the demand of the estimated 40,000 travelers who will arrive in the capital city.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has affirmed that many hotels still have rooms for travelers, especially 3-star hotels that serve domestic travelers. However, these locations have just 30-40 rooms in total, so tourists will have to stay in hotels in small groups.

According to the department, the city will receive a projected 700,000-800,000 tourists, both domestic and foreign. Department leaders have advised people to come to Hanoi after the celebration to avoid gridlock. After the anniversary, Hanoi will still “have on a new coat” and it will be very suitable for tourists to enjoy the city at that time as well.

i think pointing you to the correct spot is not any problem at all but a few points for you to note:

1. we do not know what kind of Correct Spot you are interested in... some like massage with HJ some like without, some MILF lover some like SYT... so we hv no time to play telepathy here and if we do not know what you like, since you did not say, we also better not say anything.

On the other hand, we are not asking for anyone to Kow Tow to anyone here, there is NO NEED to do so. Maybe a friendly gesture such as a PM, and probably mention "let me buy u a beer" as a gesture, that will be more than appreciated. And dun worry, beer in Hanoi is very very very cheap.. as cheap as S$0.30 per glass.

3. By the way, most of the fun places have been mentioned and reviewed a few times in previous post, pls read. But if for whatever reasons no time to read or have not learn how to read, then ask for help nicely because nobody here owes you a living.

I have stayed in Vietnam long enough to be able to speak Vietnamese and stayed in Thailand long enough to be able to pood thai nit noi.. and if you say Hanoi is a boring place, then I can tell you that it is definitely not true. In my opinion, Hanoi is more fun than Bangkok and definitely a lot more fun than Cambodia also. The difference is this, Hanoi is more about adventure... so if you are the typical Singapore Ah Seng that goes for Pay-Fuck-Forget... then I agree Hanoi is not a place for you... what you need is fish-tank style or 7-11 service.. that you do not get in Hanoi.

Personally, I have been in Thailand monthly for past 3 years, I do not favour massage but I am keen in night spot areas such as Soi Coyboy / Nana Plaza, after that head down to RCA / Thong Lor, after in which maybe Spice / Spice / Bossy.

I am wondering what kind of night entertainment can I find in Hanoi that fits the above entertainment enviroment I had in Bangkok.

Also, I read much about Hotels not been girl friendly. Though I am there to meet up my girlfriend but it is always good to have a back up plan, if you know what I mean. :)

I am wondering what kind of night entertainment can I find in Hanoi that fits the above entertainment enviroment I had in Bangkok.

Bad news... in Hanoi, no Agogo bars, no disco such as RCA (used to have but that was 4 years ago!). So if u are here in hanoi looking for things in Bangkok, u better dun waste ur time.

If u are that kind of typical singaporean that just want to pay and fuck and go.. then u can hang out with Namelo, he will show u Hanoi Hotel and Fortuna Hotel. I will not go there... too boring for me!

However, Hanoi is still a very nostalgic little place... if u have enough time and an adventurous spirit, u can still try to verify how young and attractive u are by trying to see how far u can go with a pretty 22 years old waitress... of course if u think that u cannot speak Vietnamese and have to learn that before even trying... then u are just simply thinking systematically (which every other idiots can do so as well), then u are wrong! Its even more fun when u cannot speak Vietnamese!

Hanoi is not like Singapore... in Singapore when u see a pretty girl, and u stare at her a bit and smile at her, she will show u the center finger... in Hanoi, the girl smile back and could probably even come over to talk to u if u just give her a little wave..

Nope, I am not there for a fast shot but I am more of a long term player that's why I am making that extra mild to pay my girlfriend a visit though I have not been to Hanoi. The last time when I was in Vietnam, it was during my early 20s and it was a bad experience out of HCM airport when some clown snatch my handphone away from me the moment I walked out and ran off.

Every country has their ways and kinds of entertainment. That I definately understand. In Hanoi, I will play follower and llisten because this is my virgin trip and my main purpose there is to actually see my girlfriend but who knows what else I can get there. I was told they are having a City Celebration in October. That will be something to look forward to but I just hope that it won't be another 'not interested' Singapore National Day. Hahaha.

Like I always say, when I am in Bangkok, I see faces of the thousand smiles and when I touched down Singapore, I see Ah Lians LJ faces.

Hey bro, yes, I am still considering one of your recommendations. I am kind of keen in The Rising Dragon Hotel. I have actually asked some of the hotel Managers and they allow my Ban Gai to stay with me provided she produce her Identity Card for clearance. That should be pretty fine.

I also received this note from someone.

You should just tell ur GF that u dun know anything about Hanoi and ask her to book hotel for both of u. From her response, u will be able to tell many things and plan further. Depending on ur arrival date, if its around the 1000 years celebration, u are gonna get hell... hotel rooms no have, very expensive, everything closed, road blocks, very expensive, inconvenience, heighten security with police raiding the hotels .... and did i mention everything very expensive??? and also dun forget it will be raining very heavy and half the city will be flooded, so bring ur swimming trunk and fishing rod as well... :D

For PM,
1. Do not ask me for gers' contacts. I am not a pimp or OKT.
2. Do not ask me questions which can be found in this thread.

Misc,
1. Do not tell me eat anything. Tell me straight what you want to eat.
2. Do not tell me cheong anywhere. Tell me what you like, example soft music with gers or loud disco. I encountered a few times, commented this place is boring.
3. Do not call me last min. Inform me earlier cause I myself also have my own life.
4. Do not call me after 9. Life is simple in Hanoi, sleep early. Everything close early at about midnight. So if you call me at 9.30, by the time we meet is 10 plus. I dun want to go and close shop.

Bear in mind the following, so dun ask me what to do. You tell me what you want.

1. Local KTV starts in the afternoon and closes at about midnight, if you intend to pick pretty SYT, you have to go before the Vietnamese men knock off at about 4. If you thinking of going in the evening, then you can go ahead without me. The reason is simple, prettier gers are chosen and what left are leftover. I met some samsters who pick gers like choosing wife. In the end, moody, complains no ger. Also my Vietamese is almost nil so dun ask me to help get the ger out for bonk.

Tips is abt 200-400k VND
Bonk is 600k-1.2mil VND, ST or LT

2. Boss and Hanoi KTV starts at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. Gers are definitely prettier and more expensive. Most speaks English. This place will be expensive, a night will cost about 200USD for a cheap bottle of whiskey or Brandy and gers hours. I dun go this place unless it is for business. So if you want to go, either you can go yourself or you pay for my share. Of cos I will pay for my own ger tips and bonk.

Inform mummy that you want to bring girl out for ST or LT, she will pick those able to go for you.
Tips is abt 300-500k VND
Bonk is 60-100 USD, ST or LT

3. Japanese KTV starts at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. Gers are attractive and most speaks English. There is an entrance fee per person and bottle of whiskey or brandy is cheaper than Boss or Hanoi KTV. Gers earn money by tips and lady drinks.

4. Most Pubs start at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. There are few pubs with attractive waitress who will company you chat and drink only. Do not ask me to get them out for a night. You need a lot of time to get them out unless you are like my idol, Richard Gere.

5. Disco in Hanoi start at about 7 in the evening and closes at about midnight. I seldom go cause the blast from the speakers are just too loud.

6. Hanoi GL open till very late and has lots of ugly gers so I dun go there. If you want to go, u can go alone. I'm tired of samsters choosing wife there.

7. Massage palour closes at about midnight. Most offer HJ, dun ask me about BJ or FJ.

Tips for HJ is abt 200-500k VND

8. BBBJ joint closes at about midnight. It is simple joint. Go in, a ger cleans your dick, HJ follows by BBBJ, HJ again till u cum. Tips the ger and pay the owner.

Tips is abt 100-200k VND

3 companies taxi you can take in Hanoi. The rest depends on luck, they just love to adjust their meter.

Airport Taxi to and fro Hanoi city. Noi bai taxi or Vietnamair taxi. Flat rates.

In Vietnam, the law forbids Viet ger to stay overnight with a man in the hotel room. Recommend these 2 hotels which suppose to be ger friendly, but if they stop your ger, dun blame me.

I've been reading this thread for an earlier trip out to Hanoi (for 10 days about a couple of weeks back) and it took me a while to digest all the information out here (not to mention getting a good dose of the personalities of the regular chiongers of Hanoi).

In any case, this thread has been a big help, so thank you bros.

I went with what can only be described as the safe option of checking out Seventeen Saloon and their cowgirls; and later during the trip, hitting Fortuna Hotel's KTV and paying expensive shite to shag a gal there. Thankfully, the gal I picked spoke Mandarin and we hit it off so well that she agreed to meet me outside of the regular KTV hours (at a reduced charge! No bar fines! No compulsory drink! No stupid mommy tips! No crazy 2-hr hotel room booking!). Not sure if that's the way to wing this, but it was fun while it lasted with the gal.

One thing about Viet girls though, they are REALLY so sweet...

My 1st 2 days in Hanoi have been pretty simple with minor shopping, visiting shopping centres around District 1 and District 2. I am not sure if I address them correctly but that's how I should phrase it for now.

The thing I experienced most is food and more food. I have not actually touched into the clubs yet so I am not going to waste my Tuesday and Wednesday, heading to check out at least 4 of them before I head back to SG, making it a good night for me.

I will agree the crowd is really bad especially the vehicles. There is just no sense of directions. It is worst than Bangkok man. People, cars and motorcycles, cutting out one another. Lucky my girlfriend is leading me the way during my trip if not I really do not know where should I begin.

My 1st 2 days in Hanoi have been pretty simple with minor shopping, visiting shopping centres around District 1 and District 2. I am not sure if I address them correctly but that's how I should phrase it for now.

The thing I experienced most is food and more food. I have not actually touched into the clubs yet so I am not going to waste my Tuesday and Wednesday, heading to check out at least 4 of them before I head back to SG, making it a good night for me.

I will agree the crowd is really bad especially the vehicles. There is just no sense of directions. It is worst than Bangkok man. People, cars and motorcycles, cutting out one another. Lucky my girlfriend is leading me the way during my trip if not I really do not know where should I begin.

I will write a good FR to share with you guys after I am back from Singapore.

All the while my tour trips get better when I frequent the place just like BKK and the cost of trip gets lower and lower.

This trip in Hanoi, I can spend as low as 200,000 for a meal to USD120. GOSH!!!

I hope tonight when I meet Naemlo, he will change my impression I have about Hanoi as of date because it has been pretty average for me with terrible traffic. I thought BKK was bad enough but this is worst and the police officers are really... no comments.

Three of four people killed in a firework explosion at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium Wednesday were foreigners, according to the capitol’s police.

One of the victims was the wife of Singaporean-owned Glorious Pte Ltd’s General Director, police said, adding that she was supervising 34 foreign experts as they attempted to set up equipment and devices for a firework display when the explosion occurred.

Two German experts also perished along with an official from the Ministry of National Defense's Z121 Factory, they said.

Four others were injured, one of whom was recently discharged from Vietnam Sports Hospital, according to the facility's chief administrator.

The two containers were carrying fireworks intended for a ceremony designed to celebrate Hanoi’s millennium anniversary.

In the meantime, the Hanoi International Manpower Supply and Trade Company Limited (Interserco), organizer of the display, said they will propose Z121, a firework producer, replace the lost fireworks.

They have also contacted their Chinese partner to import another batch, an Interserco representative said.

However, according the representative, it’s more likely that new fireworks would be provided by Z121, as it would take time to import them from China.

Initial information showed that the containers in question are among three imported from Italy, the US and China by Interserco.

In an interview with Vietnam News Agency, Hanoi Police Department Director Nguyen Duc Nhanh said the fire was caused by “mistakes” made during transportation.

In 2001, Mark Rapoport and his family left New York to settle in Hanoi.

The long-time expat and his Vietnamese partner run 54 Traditions, a gallery that sells handicrafts produced by ethnic minorities from all over the country. Almost every year, Rapaport’s two sons visit their parents and travel throughout the city.

“Over the last nine years, my wife, Alison, and I (with some help from our two children Robert and Jane Hughes) have put together a list of 101 reasons why we love living in Hanoi,” Rapaport said. “We presented it as a book, entitled 101 reasons to love living in Hanoi, which we published last July to celebrate the 1,000th year anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.”

Thanh Nien Weekly has selected our favorite items from the list.

1. The people – the hardest-working, least-complaining, most optimistic folks anywhere.

2. The city – an extremely safe place, where foreign teenagers can go walking and make their own adventures, without their parents getting (more) gray hairs worrying about them.

3. The lakes – Hanoi is a city of lakes, dozens of them, many surrounded by parks and walks.

4. Our indoor gecko lizards, skittering across walls and ceilings. It takes a little getting used to (especially when they croak at night), but they do keep the house almost insect-free. Kinda like a good “mouser” cat.

5. Early morning flower parades. If you can manage to get yourself up before 6 a.m. (it cannot be that hard; everyone else in Vietnam seems to be able to do it), you can see dozens of flower-sellers. These women (in simple clothes, bandanas and conical hats) ride into town on their bicycles, ready for market.

6. Men as active parents. Nowhere have I seen so many fathers taking care of their kids (without any complaining) as I do here. And this applies to their daughters as well as their sons!

7. “The Yelling at Your Kid” Test. This assesses frequency of parents yelling at their kids. The total I see in a week is about the same as I would see in Manhattan in an hour.

8. “The Your-Kickstand-is-Down” Test. This measures the amount of time an obviously foreign person can ride in the street after having forgotten to retract his/her motorbike kickstand before a total stranger shouts, points or honks to alert the cyclist to his/her potential risk. In Vietnam, it is about 19 seconds, an excellent score.

9. Our neighborhood People’s Committee security post – at the end of the lane, staffed by two older folks who wave every time we pass. They absolutely will not let you take their picture – unless the portrait of Uncle Ho is in the center of the photo.

10. The street cleaners of Hanoi. Virtually all women, in Day-Glo vests, wheeling small dumpsters all around their assigned bailiwick while ringing a bell to signal people to bring out their trash. They are part of what makes Hanoi much cleaner than many cities in the developing world and more than a few in the developed world.

11. The airport road – a wide road through rice paddies but passing new industrial parks. Not manicured or “gussied up”, it is both a gateway and an honest introduction to the country.

12. The Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology – a little like the anthropology part of The American Museum of Natural History in New York, USA. Great museum for exhibits on the 54 “ethnic groups” of Vietnam. In 2002, the Discovery Room for kids was re-done with 200 objects that we donated from our collection.

13. The Thirty-six Streets – the oldest part of the old city of Hanoi, with no new or tall construction, by dint of government decree. Each street named after the craft that was (and in some cases still is) practiced there.

14. Eating out – nowhere else can you eat at the top national restaurants (with white-glove service from traditionally dressed men and women) for so little money.

15. The Water Puppet Theater – a unique, funky northern Vietnamese folk entertainment – for at least the last 500 years one hundred different puppets, in a few dozen folk tales, gliding over a pool of water, guided by hidden (and sodden) puppeteers, moving to the beat of a raucous live orchestra.

16. Hanoi traffic – like no other place in the world. Guaranteed to make every daily commute worthy of inclusion in “French Connection 3” or the theme for a hair-raising video game. As far as I can tell, the speed limit is the only law that many drivers DO choose to follow.

17. Local painting galleries-there are many really talented artists in Hanoi who do paintings of every size - from wall-size to postcard-size. They portray life in Hanoi and in the countryside and mountains as they see it. Or else a copy of your favorite Old Master. Great to browse.

18. The quintessential mixed-income neighborhood pattern. Since the land under you is believed to have a lot to do with how lucky you are, financially successful people do not move to a “better” neighborhood the moment they make some money. Rather, they build up (and up) and fancy up their traditional house on their traditional street. The juxtaposition of pastel “Victorian follies” and centuries-old hovels is startling and also revealing.

19. Birdcages - the birds are nothing to write home about, but the cages themselves come in an extraordinary range of materials and styles; most notable are those in the shape of pagodas, made for female birds. Many of them are truly elegant items. No bird necessary.

20. The new four-kilometer-long mosaic mural installed along the Yen Phu dam-road in honor of 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi. A variety of styles, artists, themes, and techniques - but together saying that Hanoi is proud of its first 1,000 years, and Hanoi will be just as proud of its next 1,000 years.

Yes there is a Main Hall at Boss KTV, and individual KTV rooms.

The last I went there, no more minimal spend. Just around 5 USD for drinks and 25USD for girls whole night to sit with you.

To bring back the going rate is around 100USD for whole night.

Hmm, since no one can meet up this week :o , opt for the safest option and went for spa at H hotel.

Went in and there's actually pics on display on the wall for you to choose the massage ladies. Chose a lady, dun wish to name the number, and proceed to sauna area.

Quite a pleasant place, very similar concept to massage joints in China. There is a resting place for you to lie down and watch TV and can even have foot massage (but no idea the cost, since i nv try).

The gal i chosen can speak limited english i opt for the 70min package and ratings as follow:

Massage: 6.5/10 => not enough strength when rubbing the neck and shoulder area, maybe my expectation high due to frequent visit to FL china massage gals in singapore like moon etc. However, she has a method of massage my butt which was very comfortable. After arriving at Hanoi Noi Bai airport, dun know which taxi to take ( Din do research b4 going ). Lucky get to know that Jetstar has bus to Hoan Kiem District. Pay 30,000vnd for the ticket. Take abt 30+min to reach the destination. As my hotel is at the Old Quarter, I take a taxi to reach my hotel. Abt 40-50,000vnd on taxi, can't remember liao.

After doing a research on this thread, found that the taxi at airport will charge a flat rate of abt 230,000vnd to reach old quarter.

Check in hotel at Luong Ngoc Quyen street, one of the 36 streets in old quarter. Per room charge is US$18. I told the manager that I pay by VND so he charge me at 18*20,000=360,000vnd.

May as well show the net price since 20% discount is for all packages...

The waiter asked if i wan English speaking? Since i falling in love with Vietnamese ladies, i told him that i wan a pretty one. Hehe, try and practice communicating with them.

The place is mainly patronised by locals. Men's section on the first floor and women's section on the upper floors.

After paying VND200,000 (SGD 13.30), you are directed to a bathroom where there are open cubicles for a bath. You can use can use the shampoo, soap provided if you want to. Hot water shower is available.

Once your body is clean, you go to the next room where you immerse yourself into a very large wooden barrel of some hot "herbal soup". While inside, you can sip on some refreshing and detoxifying grass drink.

Ten minutes later, you move from your barrel into a long bath tub next to it. Now you soak in another "soup". The water here is so hot I thought my balls would end up half cooked!

Next, you can go into a dry sauna and wet sauna. Since I am not used to this, I couldn't take more than five agonising minutes inside.

When you come out, cool yourself with some water, towel dry yourself and get ready for your massage. There are young men around to help you get towels or drinks or direct you to the correct places if you need their help.

The massage is done inside individual rooms with sliding doors which allow people to view what is happening inside. The massuse assigned was a woman in mid 20s, looks 5/10. Since this is strictly clean place, who cares? What is important is that over the next hour, she gave a thorough and skilled massage.

I must admit, the decor of the place is rather old and is not what some samsters are used to in terms of "hygiene". This place cannot be compared with those Banyan Tree Resorts Spa that have nice decor but charge super high prices for essentially the same thing.

The only drawback from this experience is this: After you have experienced this standard of massage, those other places that offer "extras" seem to be a waste of time and money.

For newbies to Hanoi, this clean massage place is definitely worth a visit.

Had another place to intro to you guys. In fact, it actually came from deptrai4u. Had the privilege of meeting up with him before he leaves Hanoi. He understand that going to KTV alone cost quite a lot and he suggested going to Japanese lounge for guy who venture out alone, reason being that it charge by headcount rather than by room charge per hr. He had also not been there before so we go there for our first venture.

Day 1
We went to Kim Ma Street and there are actually quite a few Japanese lounges. Its very obvious. We drove to a valley and select one of the lounges, forget the name, think its medusa?

When we walk towards the shop, we are greeted very politely by all the ladies. They can converse in English and I suspect they can speak a little Japanese too, since its to cater to Japanese customers.

The place is very nicely decorated and the songs selection is very wide. They have Chinese, Japanese and of course, Vietnamese songs.

deptrai4u wants me to select a lady for him and I choose a babe for him which he later told me he likes. Haha. For me, I chose a guai guai type of gal. In terms of rating, I will rate deptrai4u’s gal as 8 while mine is 7.

Or if you are alone and hope to have a gal to sit with you for 4hrs, this is a cheap alternative, compared to going KTV alone.

Day 2:

Without bro deptrai4u, decide to venture again, since alone. Decide not to go back to the same place, since most likely will see the gal again. Will like to try others. Walk round and saw a SYT standing outside a lounge called Diamond club. So on, and proceed inside.

Damages:

Table charge: $15 => cheaper but I noted that it is slightly more run-down and the KTV system not as new, but who cares. Im not really there to sing.

Tiger beer: $5 per bottle

Coke for lady: $5 per glass

Total damage = US$ 20 and 100 tips (which I gave voluntarily)

As mentioned, I chose the SYT. Shes 19 and is an undergrad and similarly shes working part time. English not as good as the 1st lady I met, in fact, I cannot understand some of her sms. But I appreciate her patient in replying my sms.

Think its around this price if you opt for hotel standard. Think my previous FR for Hanoi Hotel massage was:

But the good thing is that you can enjoy unlimited time in Jacuzzi, hot steam bath before proceeding to massage. And you can continue to Jacuzzi even after the massage. The tips for the girls there is usually US$20 or at very least VND300k. It is true that they do not get anything of the US$32 at all, and get nothing from the LD as well.

I'm a newbie here and also first time in hanoi. I just went Hanoi Hotel KTV and was a big fat carrot, so big that I feel a bit ashamed to post here, but I think I shall post anyway just in case there are other newbies reading this that can avoid the same mistakes. Donno why I read this forum past few days, but when the real situation come, I forget everything.

Hanoi KTV is really for very rich people. The beers are 100k dong each, for one small can. even more ex than singapore price. I went alone so did not get a room, sat outside the open area where there is a live band and some dancers and singers. Now the girl sit with you is 32 USD. I read somewhere in the earlier pages of this thread is 20 USD, but I never bargain because I thought maybe times have changed, inflation. There were also not many customers. Just me and a few other groups, i think koreans or china.

I picked a short petite syt, looks not too bad, but we really just sit there and talk cock. Never do much also. I drank three beers and bought one lady drink. The lady drink is just a coke, the waiter say 100k dong also. So drinks total should be 400k, plus the girl sit down 32 USD (about 624k dong). Total should be about 1 mil dong or slightly more because of tax. Donno why the bill come is 1.6 mil dong! And the worse thing is, I totally never notice, just pay. Only after I come back hotel than I recalled a bro mention here b4 always check your bill. So that is like 500k dong just throw away.

So I and that girl is talking a bit, she say tomorrow she come find me at my hotel cheaper, if she go off tonight I need to pay another 100 USD or something. I also donno what she say is true or not. Anw, I said ok. I thought maybe got free tour guide also not bad.

When I going off that time, the girl ask me to tip her. I was a bit surprised because I thought 32USD is quite a lot already. She say the hotel take the 32 USD and she don't get anything. I also donno if that is true, and of course being newbie there is no way I can find out. She say I can ask the mamasan but I think no point. But i still take out 100k dong. Den she ask for 500k. Everything in Hanoi hotel KTV is expensive, the beer price is quite right although I don't remember exactly how much I paid.
The USD 32 for the girl is also correct. It is written in the receipt as 'Misc'. It goes to the KTV and the girl gets nothing. You will have to tip her 300K to 500K at the end of the night.
Because you are sitting in the hall where everyone can see, of cause you can't do anything more than hugging and discreet kissing. Even if you are in the ktv room, you don't get to do much as well. Because this is a so called "up-market KTV" and customers are usually businessman and they spent on their company's expense. If you want to do more, you just need to bring her into your hotel room. USD 100 for short time. USD 120 for overnight. They also do not get 100% out of this USD 100 or 120, they need to pay their mummy a commission.
The girl wanted to meet you tomorrow instead because she might already have booking tonight, and yes it is true that you save USD100 because that is their rates for short time.
If she do meet you tomorrow, she will probably still ask you for money, but this she will not need to pay commission to the mummy.
Hanoi is a boring place to party. The small local ktvs are very well 'hidden' and you really need to be able to speck vietnamese or go with someone who can speak in order to explore such places. The varity of girls in these local joints are very limited and quality wise, not as good a those in the high-end ktv like Hanoi hotel and fortuna hotel. These girls in local joints speaks only vietnamese, very few can speak english or even if they can, it is very very very limited. So for a newbie, still better for u to stick to Hanoi or Fortuna hotel, as they have about 100-200 girls there, 'looks' prettier in general as they know how to doll-up themselves, and they can speak at least english or chinese or even Japanese or Korean. They are well trained according to their customer base. So for that matter, they are more expensive.
Alternatively, you can go to bars like seventeen-salon or relax bar. You spend lesser there. But you can't really just bring the girls there back to your hotel on your 1st meeting with them, unless you did some magic or your lucky star is shinny real bright on you.

From city center area to my hotel was abt 40+k VDN but he asked for 400K instead thinking im a foreigner. Luckily i read from some thread here abt cabbies here so i pointed to the meter and paid him 50K and left.Bugger didnt give up and still hav to cheek to ask for 100K more... really TMD...but i just left.

Will be going back to SG tmr morning liaoz...hiaz...no action for my maiden trip to Hanoi..ope next 1 will be better.

Despite the bearish real estate market in Hanoi, many brokers recommended that it was the good time to buy a house for living.


Apartments with an area of less than 60 square meters and worth around VND1 billion ($50,000) are attractive to home buyers, while sales of luxury apartments was slow down.

The builder Nam Cuong Group said it sold out 150 apartments with the areas of 54-60 square meters in the Duong Noi Residential Zone in two days only.

“Small apartments are sold well as their prices are reasonable for home buyers. With property price surging too high, apartments worth less than VND1 billion are affordable for young couples, who have middle-income. However, builders are not willing to build these apartments as its profit rate is low,” said the property consulting center Chien Thanh in Hanoi’s Cau Giay District.

Brokers said demand for small houses in Hanoi also increased rapidly. For example, a house with an area of 30-50 square meters in an alley is offered at around VND1 billion, an increase of VND300-400 million from previous months, a broker said.

Home buyers this year preferred to buy small apartments worth VND 1 billion in the outskirts of Hanoi as they could not afford for ones in downtown, which have double prices compared with last year, analysts said.

Property experts predicted Hanoi’s real estate market would likely to drop in the upcoming time.

“The increase in property prices in Hanoi usually begins in downtown, and then spreads to the outskirts. But the market will cool off when property prices in the outskirt starts climbing up,” said Nguyen Trung Vu, director of the The Ky Property Group.

Banh troi is available every time of the year. But to Hanoi people, the hot sweet dish is special in the winter and that’s why some vendors stop selling it the other days.

The dish literally translates to “floating cake” as it is glutinous rice balls in a mild, sweet liquid flavored with coconut milk and ginger root. The balls are made by mixing glutinous rice flour with some water. The big balls would be stuffed with ground coconut flesh of ground mung beans but the small ones are not.

“If one wants to enjoy all the tastes of the dish, one has to eat it at the right season. So when I check the calendar and see it’s the beginning of winter, I start selling,” said Dung, who sells banh troi near Chuong Vang Theater located in the middle of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

The former music teacher said her mother often took her to eat banh troi when she was a kid and she loved the cry of the vendors. “So now I sell the dish to recall my joy from my customers’ faces.”

Dung said preparing banh troi is very complicated.

The amount of powder has to strictly follow the ratio of three sticky rice: one ordinary rice as a little too much of ordinary rice would make the balls tough, she said.
