Around your area, there are many smaller budget hotels and massage spa. Dunno which is good... be adventurous take a walk around... the worst, if find nothing, go over to Big C and enjoy the air con and view. If not adventurous, then follow what others did. If still too lazy to explore out then stay in the hotel. Your hotel is quite new and grand.

Hi bro, there are no massage places near Hoan Kien Lake. I just back from Hanoi last week. Base on the recommendation here, went to Oasis Hotel for massage. It's not bad. You should try the VIP massage for 1 1/2 hrs. The viet MP ger will bath you and scrub you clean from head to toe in the bathtub. Very shiok treatment. Inside the room got a steam room as well. Its about 550k dong for this package. As for specials, its pretty ex. My MP ger ask for US $50 for a hj, BJ and FJ she quote US $80 and 100 respectively. Only tried the hj for the experience. I was in hanoi for past few days. Went to Halong Bay and Hanoi.

Halong Bay has massage centre in most 4 star hotels. Went with my hotel agent, quoted USD 20. However, when done, the receptionist told be can charged be USD 10 if next day go myself.

The girl massage was so so, but very pretty, she asked for 500K VND (about USD 25) for hj. Can autoroam, just 19 years old. Very fresh.

Tried the Oasis suana 2, recommended in this forum. Tried #4, named Yin. Went on a Sat night, the place was quite empty. BBJ was so so, tip her SGD 50 and she was very happy.

Times have also changed, Fortuna now is a bit more commercialized as compared to the past.

Have been to several bia om in hcmc and the bia om in Hanoi is a bit different. Bia Om in Hanoi does not have a mummy and bringing gals back is a big problem. Hit and miss situation. Not guaranteed. My opinion is HCMC's bia om is a lot more commercialized and more fun. Cost wise, it is about the same in both areas. Hanoi's bia om is a lot more discreet.

Last nite went to a famous bia om in Bui Thi Xuan.
Had a fun nite partying with the general.

Most of the PR hostresses gather in the main halls and as such one could see more actions just by sititng in the main halls of these two KTVs.

During this Hanoi trip, I had my fair share of fun.

I am genuinely pleased to share some information I have gathered from reading this Hanoi thread and would like to summarize the best recommended hotels, ktvs, bars, MPs, tips, restaurants and other places of attractions written by other senior brothers (please note: some info might dated a few years back, hence prices might have fluctuated).

I myself have NEVER VISTED Hanoi. I always do a research (reading at least 100 pages) in the thread before approaching senior brothers out stationed at Phuket for other information and references. This is to show that you are not lazy ass to just pm seniors for some stupid questions which most likely already been repeated within the thread. To all newbies, this is the way you noobs should do before just anyhow approaching senior brothers for information. What's worst, never ask for WL contacts from the seniors that have sincerely contributed their experience and information. In sammyboy, you will never be spoon fed!

I will be travelling to Hanoi on the the last weekend of July this month. And I am still actively looking if any senior bros who are stationed in Hanoi is keen to show me around the good night spots in Hanoi.

Depends on your luck, most of the time, I can see a security in the lobby esp in the night... There is another way into the hotel room but it going to be a longer way but I can't remember unless I am on the spot. :D

If it's under the gals' names , no problem. It could be dumb luck but I found my recent stays at Sheraton in both HN and HCM quite nice. No hassle walking back to my room with my "new gf" after 2am. Went Hanoi yesterday for business trip, just arrived back. I must really thanks bro hairy abalone for his effort to consolidate the info which allows me to have a good night in Hanoi.

Went for a Vietnamese restaurant with client first, very popular among locals and foreigner, called Quan An Ngan - Address: 18 Phan Boi Chau. Called about 5-6 dishes plus beers, billed less than 500K VND.

Planned next for some drinking, went 17 Saloon / Cowboy which is around 2 lane away from the restaurant. Waitress in cowgirl costume (Got USA flag) and also some henessey promotor / PR. Most can speak and understand simple english, 1-for-1 drink till 9pm and they housed a philippines music band which performs 2 set, first starts at 8.30. Can do dedicate songs (Pick Lady Gaga - poker face). 2 rounds of beers plus one cola for the waitress, 510K VND

Live report from day 3 of my Hanoi trip.

Just went to hanoi last week and my observation:

1. Bank exchange rate USD 1 ~ VND 20,800
2. The Hotel and restaurant i go bill showing USD 1 ~ VND 21,000. If you use USD to make payment, they will this exchange rate to return the balance.
3. Not sure if the smaller shop accept USD or use #2 exchange rate.
4. FL will quote USD

I will bring a mix of USD and VND.

Today, USD still accepted, if u dun believe, u try Fortuna or Hanoi hotel... all the restaurant and ktv in these 2 hotels billing shows USD as well as VND.

so sgd 1.25 = 20,875..

usd 1 = 1.25
but when you buy usd - will charge 1.26+ which means you need more sgd to buy usd...and so lose out...

just use SGD to change to VND...unless you already had USD on hand...

1st of all, I had been to Hanoi since 2006. I used to stay at Fortuna hotel but now I moved to Hanoi Horizon Hotel which is also quite nearby Fortuna.

In Fortuna hotel, there is a Boss KTV. My advice is the girl charge is quite expensive. Before you called the girl, you have to have a drink there. then if you want the girl (after introduce by the mama-san), you need to pay a small sum of money and your drink. (I remembered I paid about USD70).
At 2006, for short time is about USD40 and long time is USD80 (I think now the price is higher as I long time never been there). The good thing is the girl u book can come up to your room.
