How long does STD test in DSC takes ?

What kind of STDs you check for? I thought it is on the spot?
If need to draw blood (Syphilis, AIDS), then might have to wait a bit lor. If they poke one spatula into your kuku bird hole, then should know the results on the spot.

How long does lab tests usually takes? It's been 2 weeks but still no news now. Getting worried.

Any number i can call to check as number on website is only for counselling ?

hi just realised that when i went for normal checkup, they do not check for herpes in blood test although i requested for all tests.

Is there reason why ? How long do i have to wait after possible contact to have accurate results ?

Bro, it can take up to 3 weeks for an answer but usually within 2 weeks you will get an sms to inform you of the results. If you are worried, do call their main line and tell them you waited long long for result but no reply yet.

Sometime their sms system can screw up like what happened to my friend. When he called after 3 weeks, they claim already sms to him but he did not received. You will likely need to go down in-person as the one answering your call will not have access to your results due to confidentiality.

Finally got my sms notification this evening. Other test normal. Phew !

However when check my receipt, just realised the Herpes Simplex Virus blood test is not included although I specifically tells the medical staff that I would like to be tested on all STDs.

Any reason why they misses this one out ? will it be accurate to test if the possible infection time is less than 3 weeks ?

Damn. ...means need to go down again to take blood ?

perhaps doctor decided that you don't need a herpes test? you should ask DSC not us.

I just visited the DSC website.
Appears they are introducing Appointment Booking System.

"With effect from 4th May 2009, we are pleased to introduce a new Appointment Booking System, which will make your waiting time much shorter. Please call us at 6293 9648 if you are interested."

They dun entertain walk-in anymore?

Testing for Herpes via blood test is not conclusive, that's why the doctor will not submit your blood for herpes test. Most people will test positive because most of us have got cold sores (ulcers on lips) one time or another. When the test indicates a (false) positive, people become kan cheong unnecessarily.

The only way to know whether you really got herpes or not is when you see a bubble or blister on your penis, anus or mouth. When the blister breaks, you can go to DSC and they will take a swab of your broken blister. Very high chance that you have herpes.

Anyway, whether you find out before or after the first symptom, there is really not much you can do. There is no cure for herpes so you have to live with it for the rest of your life. You may be thankful that herpes is not fatal.

The entire experience usually takes about an hour depending on the queue. This includes registration, counselling, seeing the nurse for lab test and meeting the doc.
