Hi, People out there. Can you help me to define the relationship meaning as
"close friend" & "best friend" thanks

you want to look at close friend and best friend from a girl or guy point of view?

since im a ger, i can only tell u my version of close friend and best friend.

Close friend
our friendship havent been long enough or clear enough. either
1) i regard u as a best friend, but u have never mentioned that u are my best friend, so i paisei, so i say u my close friend.
2) i dont regard u as a best friend. and close friend is the best title i can give u without hurting your feelings instead of just saying u are my "friend".

Best Friend
this is the person who knows almost all ur secrets and all ur fears and nonsense. dont meet often, dont contact often but always know that can count on each other if help is needed.

if its towards a guy: my guy best friends = to those who had shown interest in me before but i not interested in pursuing. so become best friends. we will have abit of ai mei guan xi that even my bf cannot say anything about or can fully understand. =D

well since kenny has given her perspective ... i try to give u mine ... take it with a pinch of salt....

To me there are many types of friendship

1. Casual friends & Cyber friends
2. Cheonging friends
3. "Motive" friends
3. Close friends
4. Best friends
5. Friends with benefit..


Casual friends are those who u noe little of their background...there isnt a need to noe as they dun see the need to reveal much about their personal lives... some even fake their background..... aka chatroom friends who are also known as cyber friends...

Cheonging friends are those zhu peng gou you type of friends who gather for the sake of sharing costs for ktvs outing or for the sake of leeching onto for benefits.

Motive friends are those who wanna be friends with u becos they think that they can use u to leverage themselves.... for eg borrowing $$$ from u, relying on you for biz leads or opening windows of opportunities for themselves... they are not sincere at all in your friendship but what they can benefit from your friendships...

A close friend is someone who will always no matter what the circumstance is will alway be there for u when you need them, they respect you, and love you the way you are, they will always have the best way of cheering u up and they will listen to your problems and help you, they will know what your faults and respect u for the faults you have, they show up when you need them the most even if you dont ask them too and best of all they never judge you on your faults and never reprimand you when u erred or telling you "I told you so" etc. A close friend is someone who will stay by your side even when you have made them mad, they will stick by you even when u dont want them there just because they care about you. Sometimes even with their presence, there isnt a need to say much but you can understand and sense their thoughts and care are with you.

Best friend... well to me that is difficult to put into words but one can sense it if u ever gotten a best friend... it will be more like a close friend proven over the years whereby although one does not keep in contact so regularly due to the fact that each have their own separate lives... the bonding, the chemistry between the two of them are automatically rekindles once they meet again..and the awkwardly of catching up with them is magically dissipated unlike meeting old casual friends..

Best friends are people you thought of whenever something important happens. Someone you always wanted to buy extra when you buy something that you like. Someone whom you might consider sacrifice your life, virginity, career or other important things for. Best Friends are hard to come by, and most probably have just a limited few. Rich men doesn't have best friends.

Close friends are those friends that you are close with ... as many mentioned ...

BUT a best friend is the one that you deem closest ..... regardless whether the other party takes you as best friend or not

Close friends to me r exactly the same as u describe, decades of friendship n when catchup, can talk abt everything. Just that the level of closeness r not as close as Besties.

For a relationship to last, it must be a win-win relationship.

Close Friend
Sometimes, one party win more than the other. But overall, the win-win ratio must even out. Because both parties are counting. Often, quarrels or disputes arise because one party feels that he is sacrificing more.

Best Friend
In this relationship, it matters very little who wins more or who wins less. Both parties seldom count. But still, there is a limit. When one party treat the other as a fool, the relationship ends.

So, regardless close friend or best friend, it is only the degree of how much you are willing to sacrifice for the other.
