Residents of two areas in Queenstown can now borrow electrical and household items from a resource centre at their doorstep.

SINGAPORE: Residents of two areas in Queenstown can now borrow electrical and household items from a resource centre at their doorstep.

With the resource centre, residents can go online to check what items are available for borrowing.

The Residents' Committees at Commonwealth Avenue and Mei Ling hope this will help prevent wastage and foster closer ties in the community.

Dr Chia Shi Lu, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, said: "We felt that the best way of kickstarting this was to make our RC centres key participants. So what we did was that, we've already got an idea of what residents want to borrow, so we got some of these commonly needed items, and put them in our RC."
